What a lovely building and in a lovely olde worlde location, on approach to Ruthin the sign says you are entering a location of outstanding natural beauty they are not wrong. The hotel is set in its own grounds well looked after. The room we had, a deluxe, was more four star than three. We went on a deal B&B... more

We visited Ruthin Castle with another couple and were amazed with the whole package. We had booked in for 2 nights on a special rate of £140 per couple per night which included a 3 course dinner plus coffee in the most wonderful restaurant whose ceiling was full of giant chandeliers which gave off a great ambiance. The food was... more

Just returned from Ruthin, had a great weekend which included the medievel banqueut (which is a must do), we went for a friends birthday and the whole party of 38 completley enjoyed the weekend. The reviews about the rooms are pretty much spot on, but they were clean. I don't know about you but I don't expect staying in a... more

We booked the Ruthin Castle as our "big splurge". We always want to stay in a castle. We kept checking the reviews and decided to upgrade to the deluxe refurbished room after reading a lot of negative reviews. Our room was small, but when you opened the window and looked out, you knew you were in a castle! The room... more

The reception area looks decent although one can see the dusty corners. The corridor walls are painted a dark and/or dull colour which makes the castle look really dreary. The key to the room came along with a foot long plastic tag which makes carrying around cumbersome. The room was musky and in dire need of a refurbishment. The springs... more

We stayed in Room 101 - it epitomised "Faulty Towers". Spiders, cobwebs, cracked sink, the glass shower screen was broken with exposed smashed glass, the mattress was completely broken. This was the worst room I have ever stayed in. We paid £105 per night and I wouldn't stay in that room again if somebody paid me. I was extremely disappointed.... more

We were married at the castle in April 2007 and it was the most memorable day of our lives. The venue was spectacular with a service second to none. My husband Dylan Evan Thomas, who comes from Ruthin had never been in the castle prior to the wedding and along with all his family were suitably impressed. The rooms both... more

Stayed in South Wing - room in dire need of renovation! Wedding took place in hotel the weekend we stayed there and staff attention focused on the wedding guests to the detriment of us. Arrived at 3.30 and room not ready despite indicating a 2pm check-in. Had to wait in the bar - at our expense. Not hot on customer... more

The hotel front desk and reception area are beautiful. However, to get to our room we have to walk through a dark corridor. The room is also not well maintained. Mattress is old and saggy and the phone is not working. Bathroom is also not clean and well maintained. Breakfast is oily and non appetitizing. The only good thing here... more

The hotel and its staff were charming but especially the resturant staff , they were excellent, with a great eye to detail, tentative but not intrusive and extremely friendly. Our suite was superb, my one gripe, too many royal family pictures dotted around the room but easy to rectify! more
