Stayed at the Black Lion for one night for business. Took public transport there and back to London. Takes a good part of the day to get there, but the countryside is beautiful. The hotel is on the main street and the bus comes just outside the door. The inn is naturally also a pub and serves a lovely breakfast for about 7 pounds. Too much food for one person, so share it. When we arrived, our room reservation was lost, but they had a double bedroom available. The room was very warm on the cold day, too warm for sleeping, so we had to open the window. Furnishings are a bit dated, like staying with your gran, but that is part of the charm. Bed was comfy. Had a full bath with plenty of hot water. We were on the top floor, so lots of stairs. Clock rings night and day and street is a bit noisy in the morning. We were in the front of the hotel, so if it bothers you, ask for a room in the back.
