I stayed at Allenbrook with my partner during the course of a walking holiday along the Pembrokeshire coast path. This was the nicest of all of the venues we stayed at, and have already highly recommended to friends and family.

Allenbrook is not a chic/boutique hotel, it is a house (a large house) that is lived in, and as such as a lovely warm and hospitable feel to it. The whole house is furnished in a way that oozes class but very understated. The rooms are very spacious, bright, and the decorations are classic.

Want to shower? Afraid not, so take the opportunity instead to soak in a massive victorian ceramic tub, then relax in your four-poster bed, or sit by the large sash windows overlooking the gardens (occupied by free roaming peacocks). Think I'm joking?

At breakfast, enjoy full silver service with freshly cooked breakfast on an enormous oak dinner table, in a long wood-pannelled dining room, with fine paintings of game birds on the wall, and more...

We went to Dale for a short walking holiday and stayed at the Allenbrook for two nights. It took us a while to find the place as it is hidden behind trees; the name to the place being on the gate which was open so couldn’t be seen from the road. First impressions on going up the drive were good, a lovely big old house. However on entering you are hit by the amount of clutter, family photo’s and objects from around the world and this continues throughout the house including the bedrooms and bathroom. It was more like a museum than a b&b.

The bedroom and bathroom wasn’t clean and given that we were the only people staying at the time, I would have thought they would have had time to clean the room.

I would not stay here again.
