This hotel is a real gem. We had an amazing experience here and were treated like King and Queen. Rooms are tastefully decorated and exquisite. Everything is extremely clean and well maintained and service is exceptional. All the staff are courteous, friendly, helpful and basically will go out of their way for you. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is... more

Just spent a night with friends for dinner B&B. We had the tasting menu and every course from canapes in the bar, through to the pudding were excellent, Each course showed off the chefs talents, and many styles of cooking - from the roasted cod and scallop on curried new potato & onion puree with crispy shallot rings, to the... more

We have eaten at Ynyshir several times over a period of years. Since the arrival of Shane Hughes the standard of the food has moved up several notches and from the evidence of the most recent meal here he is surely heading for Michelin star territory. Joan Reen is the perfect hostess, always welcoming and amusing and it is obvious... more

My wife booked a two night stay for my birthday. We were well received, and shown to our room, but not shown the room, and soon became aware that it was cold. We checked the radiators, also cold and then read the hotel guide which pointed us to an electric fan heater in the wardrobe! Could not believe it. Bathroom... more

Something of the Korova Milk Bar in Stanley Kubrick's 'Clockwork Orange' to the approach to furnishing this hotel, particularly in our bedroom. I happen to like pink, which is lucky. Will not say more for fear of sounding fuddy-duddy. Wonderful location and amazing restaurant, really first class. Easily the best ting about the place. Prices on the high side, but... more

Just had a special lunch here with friends. The only word to describe the food and service is 'superb' and we've all eaten in some pretty special places. We came away thinking it was one of the best meals we'd ever eaten. more

We had a great stay at New Year so decided to go back for my wife's birthday celebration after the service and food we had then. It did not let us down in either respect. Fantastic food both nights and excellent breakfasts as well as a lovely room in wonderfully scenic surroundings. It is not cheap but it is one... more

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful weekend break at Ynyshir. He suprised me with this little berak away from London after all the stress of our son's wedding and it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable weekends we have ever had (especially in the UK). The staff is very friendly and attentive, the location... more

This is a really lovely hotel in a charming and (usually) peaceful location but I had some major concerns: We booked Studio 2 which had a reduced rate of £548 for two nights' dinner bed and breakfast. However if I was running the hotel, I wouldn't put people in the room at all: it's tired, far too small and the... more
