Property is located within the jungle approximately 1 hour from Tikal. Food was basic, but at least you got food. The rooms are very basic, also. There was a struggling air-conditioner. The bed was hard. The blanket smelled moldy, so I did not use it. This place is sort of like "roughing it". There is no TV. The radio plays... More

If you are looking for amenities or service, this is NOT the place to stay. There were 2 small bottles of drinking water in the minibar (10 quezales each -- about $1.50 USD), and one glass. I was told that the tap water was not potable, but if I wanted to take a bottle down to the bar/restaurant, that they... More

For my wife and my visit to the ruins at Tikal we stayed two fine nights at Villa Maya. We ate 2 breakfasts & dinners there and enjoyed the grounds and pool. Each room is specious, well appointed, and has nice deck that overlooks the "laguna" which is home to many water birds and some crocs. The grounds have many... More

This hotel is set in beautiful grounds full of flowers, birds and the sound of howler monkeys. The restaurant overlooks the lake and a crocodile comes for breakfast. The accommodation is first class and is very clean and the air conditioning cooled the room down efficiently and quietly. We were woken by the sounds of the many birds at dawn.... More

Very quiet. Only a few rooms per building and you wouldn't know anyone else was there. Each room with deck is well designed to take full advantage of the views of the lake and surrounding jungle. Nice pool. Enjoyable chef.Wifi available in public area.

This hotel is about 15 mins from Flores and, as others have noted, is in a sort of eco reserve, right by the lake. Plenty of bird noises, including from their resident macaws. Watch out for the floes though! The room are spacious & have all mod cons, including lots of hot water & free wifi. The main area contains... More

This gated hotel complex in the lowlands of Flores is a nice respite after a day of trekking through rain forest looking at the Mayan ruins in Tikal. Situated next to a lake, guests enjoy a pristine environment. A resident crocodile waits by the shore of the fenced-off lake, feeding on the occasional bun thrown its way. But the six-room... More

This hotel makes a trip to Tikal a real treat! The setting makes you feel like you have stayed near the ancient ruins even though you are about an hour away. The rooms are not fancy, but adequate and clean. The staff was helpful. They are a long way from anything, but that adds to the charm. Food was good.... More
