This is really a nice hotel, but I think the enjoyment of your stay will really depend on the room that you get. The staff was courteous and accommodating. My room was modest, which was fine. More importantly, it was clean. I'm guessing that rooms at the lake-end of the hotel probably have nice views, if not from the rooms... more

Casona de la Isla is a good location, with nice views from the patios of the lake -- However, I have to agree with other reviewers that the hotel is a little below standard for what you might pay in a similar price range elsewhere in Guatemala. After an awful night at the Gran Hotel we switched to this hotel, and were very glad we did. The hotel has a nice welcoming feel and the staff are friendly. Our room wasn't massive but it was clean and had aircon and a decent bathroom. I'd definitely recommend this hotel. more
