We booked through Expedia and got a great rate on this hotel, which we wre prepared to take a chance on despite reading its mixed reviews. From the moment we arrived at the front desk until we left to go back to the airport we had excellent service, got a free upgrade on our room to a newly refurbished block... more

Stayed here for four nights as part of a package deal in late Feb. 09... The good.... It's a short ride to/from the airport. Also, there is a bus stop right outside the main gate and I would highly encourage Bermuda visitors to use the public bus instead of taxis when exploring the island. We, a couple, stayed at the Grotto Bay from 2/19 to 2/23. Location, five minutes from airport, was good. If you are not one for staying amongst the hustle, bustle of the capital Hamilton, then this is a nice getaway. It is a good private, quiet location, also away from Elbow Beach, Horse Shoe Bay, the more attractive beaches. But... more

For the record, we've been on five vacations to Bermuda, and Grotto Bay was the most mediocre experience yet. Not bad, but not anything to write home about. When you enter the huge lobby with their sweeping panoramic views you think it's gonna be great, but sadly the main building was the one of the few amazing thngs there. Too... more

My husband and I took our 12 year old son for a 5 day stay. Great to have fridge in room..there is a small grocery store a short walk from resort (past the Swizzle in and will be on your left..Tony's).You can buy fruit/milk/cereal/baked goods etc which can make life easier travelling with kids. I stayed at the Grotto Bay resort for 3 nights with 2 friends to celebrate their 40th BD. Housekeeping and customer service could have been better. Do not count on their wake up calls as they will most likely forget you ever called! Also, beware of surprise telephone charges on you exit bill especially when there are no tel directories... more
