I have stayed at this hotel twice for business purposes and it beats the large chains hands down. It is best described as unusual I think, but it's very comfortable and clean and I think it's a family run business. Munchberg is a tiny village outside Herrenberg but when I was there the family took guests to Herrenberg for free. The rooms are small, but warm, clean and comfortable. The restaurant serves a weird mixture of Schwabian and chinese food and a very good breakfast buffet. The hotel is in the village and it's very pleasant just to wander round and feel yourself on the edge of the Schwarzwald in 'real' Germany and not in a faceless international chain. If I ever go to Herrenberg again, I'd stay in this hotel like a shot. But be warned, there is nothing else in the village so if you want night life or to walk out to bars or whatever, this is not the place for you.
