Just returned from a 4 night break . This was our 5th visit to the Riviera. Looking to return to Benalmadena in November but sadly we are looking at other hotels in the area. There are many positives, however on this occasion we found too many negatives. Positives: Good value, excellent location, complimentary bottle of wine on arrival, Good and varied evening entertainment. Food OK but limited choice. Better some days than others. Great donuts at breakfast 😋 Negatives: In desperate need of a update. It looks quite scruffy in parts. Room had not been cleaned on arrival. I informed reception and they said it would be cleaned however it was still dirty. Body hair on floor in bathroom and bed. Awful North facing room with no afternoon sun overlooking the main road and Triton Hotel building work. Miserable and unhelpful staff (male) on reception. Sunbeds andequated. Water pressure in room dreadful. Either too hot or freezing cold. TUI rep was great and very helpful. Grounds are lovely but it is in desperate need of an update and in some parts a deep clean. May return in the future but for now it's a no.

Hotel's Favourite
We visited early November and we had a great time. We were there for a relaxing week in the sun and that is exactly what we got. We were in room 511 which gave us some afternoon sun on the balcony which was very nice for a drink at lunchtime and then at the end of the day before getting ready for dinner. The bed was large and comfortable, the room was a decent size with plenty of storage space although the floor was a bit creaky. The room was cleaned everyday and towels changed on request. The hotel does need a wee bit of updating but it is still better than some of the places we have stayed. The food was buffet style and as with all buffets it is a mix and match if it’s hot or not. Lots of choices at breakfast including a very tasty black pudding. Dinner had a good selection and there was something to eat on every night and we really enjoyed our night at the a la carte. The access to the beach is excellent and a nice shortish walk to the the marina and all its delights. Despite needing a wee touch up here and there the hotel is very acceptable and comfortable and we will return at some time in the future.

Room Tip: Try and get the sun beds near the jacuzzi. They get the winter sun for most of the day.

We're glad that you enjoyed the buffet-style dining, with plenty of choices at breakfast and a good selection for dinner. It's fantastic that you had a pleasant experience at the a la carte restaurant as well. Your kind words about the access to the beach and the short walk to the marina are appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable stay in the future. Best regards, Guest Service Manager - MedPlaya Hotels

Excellent value, great location, wonderful staff. We arrived from CWL and took a taxi to the accommodation because I just wanted to get there. On arrival we spoke to reception. I believe his name was Raoul. What a helpful man. I can not thank him and the reception staff for our room. The high floor and marina facing view was great. Yes the hotel maybe a little dated but the staff are just fantastic. Breakfast and dinner is so varied and there is something for everyone. The evening entertainment maybe hit or miss but we had a great time. The TUI Blue reps try so hard and the bar staff are brilliant. I lost my tablet on arrival and Katie the TUI rep got it back to me after 3 days of hunting it down. The rooms are spacious and kept so clean. Towels are changed daily, along with the room being cleaned. The location to the bus stop is a plus just outside the hotel and so cheap as long as you buy a Bus Card from the tobacco shops. Getting to Malaga by train is so simple just a 20min walk up hill and you are in the town centre, where the train station is. We had a few days of cloud and rain but this did not stop us exploring. I would love to return in late May or early June. The waiters and waitress staff are so attentive and all the staff smile and are so friendly. Wine on arrival in the room, really helps with the welcome. Yes the lifts make a strange noise and the floor creaks in the room but the views, location, staff, food variety, entertainment, are great. We will be back.

Arrived late evening on the last coach from Malaga airport, swift check in. A cold plate was left for us in the dining room. Had time for a swift drink in the bar before bed. Two nice and friendly bar men Cristian and Keno. We booked a twin room and our friend a single room. Our room was on the 3rd floor with a sea view. Nice and clean, walk in shower, plenty of hangers. We had a bottle of white wine and a bottle of water in the room. Our room was looked after by Maria and her colleagues and was excellentae We asked for an iron and one was sent to our room which we had for the rest of the week, free. My friend didn't have any complaints with her room. The food in the hotel was very good, we didn't have any issues with food being cold. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly. The weather was sunny but a cold breeze. Not a lot of people sat round the pool but lots of space to sit. We saw a couple of acts in the lounge at night which were fine. The silent disco is not for all but this one was quite good. In all we would not hesitate in staying here again. The location was excellent for our needs and minutes away from our two favourite bars, Buddys in Ole Plaza and Palm 5. Checking out was also very swift and friendly. Tui reps were at the hotel every day for long periods. Gracias/thank you until the next time. Steve, Sharon and Joyce.

The hotel is well located on the beach front. The outdoor spaces are on numerous levels. The highest level is on the roof of the bar area. The next level down is a sitting area outside the bar. The next one down is the swimming pool. Below that are gardens. Access to the promenade is via the lowest level. That is made easier as an external lift operates between the reception / bar level to each of the lower levels. Steps are also available for those who don't like lifts. The restaurant provides plenty of choices and the food is very good quality. it was a calm and relaxed atmosphere as most people were in the old age category. There were no children during our 7 night stay. The bar / entertainment area was large but there was plenty of chairs and tables. The entertainment consisted the usual bingo, quiz and professional singers. We thoroughly enjoyed 4 out of the 7 acts. The outside sitting next to the bar was a lovely space to sit and take in the wonderful view of the bay. It was also benefited from the fact that there was no piped music. A great place to sit and read in the sunshine. The pool had lots of sun beds and there was no need to bag a bed with a towel. It may be different in the busier months. The negatives were 1. The bed was very firm and I heard a few others comment about them. The hotel did provide a mattress topper but the difference was minimal. I accept that firmness is a personal issue. 2. Next to the bar area there is another very large room which would benefit with a few higher chairs and tables in addition to the low modern settees / chairs which older people find hard to get in & out of. 3. We were fortunate to get a room that got the afternoon sun. However, the rooms looking towards the marina didn't get any after say 10 / 11am. 4. It would be nice / convenient if the hotel / Tui offered an all inclusive package. The positives were many and far outweighed the negatives. The positives include ...wonderful and helpful staff. The place is kept very clean. Great access to the promenade and it's close ( 15 mins stroll) to the Marina. Lovely relaxed atmosphere as most clientelle were 60 + The Tui rep said it's due a refurb soon but in my opinion it's fine at the moment and certainly value for money. I just hope the refurb doesn't mean that prices are increased disproportionaly.

Just returned from a one week stay at the Riviera and we really enjoyed our time there. The staff were so friendly and helpful that they make this hotel what it is - great value for money. This was our first trip both to this part of Spain and at a TUI blue hotel. (although we usually do travel with TUI) We were allocated a room on the 8th floor and while this does allow for great views/sunsets it does mean you rely on one of 2 tiny lifts which take an age to arrive. The room itself was bright and clean with a huge bed, plenty of hanging space and storage and a small balcony that benefits from afternoon/evening sun. Nice en-suite with 2 sinks and a rainfall shower which was a bit of a pain to find a decent temperature with. During our stay the room was always very clean and the coffee/tea area refreshed daily. Very nice pool area with lovely views and plenty of sunbeds at the time we were there. The bars and seating areas are good too. The food - we booked in for a meal at the Culinarium which is the a la carte restaurant for our wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. Absolutely lovely meal in a wonderfully relaxed setting with attentive staff. We ate at the buffet restaurant for the rest of the week and again were very happy with the options. A huge thank you to this hotel for catering to vegetarians!!! Every night there were always 2 vegetarian main meals to choose from and these were different every night - a far cry from most hotels we've experienced. The restaurant does get very busy but we found the food and service always excellent. All in all a great hotel which I have no hesitation in recommending. Special mention to the TUI blue manager Alice and her team who go above and beyond to make your holiday special.

This is a review of two parts, firstly the hotel itself. The hotel is generally clean and in good order. The staff are very helpful and friendly and our room was clean and tidy.We had six or seven channels on the tv so wifey had her soaps.I had previously chuckled at comments about the floor creaking and we had the same problem but it’s just that the floor covering has not been stuck down properly. The lift down to the beach was a good thing with my wife’s wheelchair. The lifts to the bedrooms are a bit small and overworked as there are only two.So overall quite a decent hotel to visit.NOW ,the restaurant although at first sight all is good we found that the hot food offerings were invariably only lukewarm. The way that the restaurant is laid out it is a very convoluted system. If you want the roast meat offering you join one queue and then another queue at the other side of the room for vegetables etc which are cold.We also noticed that when there was a roast available that there was no potatoes except chips .??? There is a microwave but the turntable was broken so unusable, cheap fix but not done.Such a shame that the management apparently do not listen to customers or choose to ignore comments made. With small changes this would be a really good hotel to use but the issue with the food will deter us from returning.

Having read the reviews on trip advisor after I had booked 🙈!! I was worried, and anxious about the standards. BUT having stayed there, I can honestly say our bedding & towels were spotless, the dining room and food areas were very clean. The food was plentiful with a good choice. The staff were amazing & helpful. Yes, some areas were a little ‘tired’ and the decoration was dark. But overall the hotel is very good, it was fantastic value! A good location. We had a lovely holiday, would return, and have no hesitation recommending it! ( and I am very fussy when it come cleanliness!!)

Having read some reviews, I was quite apprehensive about our stay at this hotel. Not sure where those reviewers had stayed, but it can’t have been here. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The room had a fridge and safe ( free of charge), a complimentary bottle of wine, lovely views and was very clean. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The food was great and hot! Im a fussy eater but didn’t go hungry. Omelettes at breakfast were wonderful . TUI reps very helpful and around alot. The only niggle was the 10 euro charge for the indoor pool so we didn’t bother. Get the bus card which saves lots of money on the buses - only 45 cents to go to Malaga! Ignore the bad reviews, have a great holiday!
