This motel was one of the worst properties I have ever stayed in. I checked in late one night and the front office was dreary and smelled like curry. The desk clerk evidently was asleep on a cot in an adjoining room and was barely awake during the transaction. He was completely lacking in any type of customer service skills. The room itself was hot and smelled like smoke. The antiquated A/C unit shook and rattled after I managed to turn it on. I had to use a washrag to get a grip on the switch because the knob was missing. The room was still hot when I finally fell asleep 2 1/2 hours later. The sheets were threadbare and dingy. I ended up sleeping on top of the spread wrapped in a blanket I carry the car for emergencies. The worst part was I paid $89.00 for the priveledge. I later found out that the advertised rate for the motel was $49.00. I have to travel to Salado frequently and now I either stay in Waco or drive into the North Austin area. more
