We stayed four nights at the Moqui Motel in Escalante, Utah. It is about the first place you come to when approaching the town from the west. It looks like an old-fashioned motel from the fifties, but the rooms are clean and cozy, and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The room contained a small refrigerator and a microwave. The bathroom was clean and well-kept. A few yards away is the Cowboy Blues restaurant, the best place to have dinner in town. Some friends with a motor-home stayed in the RV park section, which has the usual hookups and a small building with showers and hookups. We spent our time there driving 4-wheeling trails such as the Hole in the Rock Trail. Escalante is in the center of Utah's fabulous canyon country. The Motel rates are
very economical and great value, about $48 a night inc. tax.
