This is a nice, independently-owned establishment that my partner and I used as a quick stopover to the beginning of mult-day backpacking trip in Grand Gulch, UT. We drove up from PHX, checked in at aroud 8:30 pm and were welcomed by a large but cozy and clean room. It's basic accommodation, but it gets the job done. Unfortunately, it... more

We had planned 3 nights in Mexican Hat while visiting the parks in Utah/Az. The population of Mexican Hat is about 75 people so we had our concerns. The motel, from the outside, was unremarkable. My husband had read Trip Advisor reviews and had requested rooms in the back, over the river. The view was lovely and the rooms were... more

We spent three nights at this hotel. While the room appeared nice, it was noisy. You could hear the people below cough and television blasting...When our room wasn't cleaned we were told that the maids didn't want to drive an hour and a half to clean two rooms. I don't blame them as they are paid by the room... The... more

Hat Rock Inn is among the very few lodging options in Mexican Hat, Utah, which is an ideally located base from which to explore Southeastern Utah's amazing scenery and historic sites. The Inn is not like a urban hotel. Mexican Hat is in the middle of the most uninhabited part of the USA. I am grateful that anyone can provide... more

Remember the character Marilyn on Northern Exposure? Picture someone like that, bigger, more sour and more slow moving, sitting at the reception desk. No hello, no welcome and no apology for having made you wait for 15 minutes to check-in, because she was on the phone with someone else. This was our introduction to Hat Rock Inn. The room itself... more

We had made reservations for three nights, but decided to leave a day earlier due to the long drive ahead of us, but we enjoyed our stay and the staff was very friendly and did not hesitate when we decided to cancel our last night. The Inn is located in a very simple and small town where you can feel... more

You never know what you're really getting in a tiny town in Utah (microscopic is more like it). We booked online in May and showed up in September and they were ready for us. When you book through their website they have the layout of the hotel and you can choose exactly which room you want. I chose the second... more

Actually I wasn't expecting such a comfortable, large room at a first sight. The rooms seem to have been recently renovated. You can profit of the nearby Swinging Steak Restaurant, offering steaks and hamburgers cooked on a swinging grill and served with bones and salad. The only negative aspect is the very poor selection they offer for breakfast. more

the hotel itself is fair. in summer it is hot, but there is no fridge in the room and the staff has no freezer for cooler elements or so. However Mexican Hat is absolutely terrible. It is really very small. The hotel has no breakfast and the only place to get it is in a shop besides it, which looks... more

Been there Aug 2, 2009. Good on-the-road motel, comfortable rooms nicely refurbished. We were 4 of us in a double queen room and it was ok. Dont' warry: do not judge it by the outside, as many others wrote. Perfect location very close to Monument Valley. Free Internet is working also in the rooms but quite slowly. Nice view from... more
