I would not recommend this place to anyone. The innkeeper was far from friendly! There was not a moment that I felt welcomed in her home. The house smells like dog and mildew. Even though I love dogs, I did appreciate her dogs barking all morning long, waking me up early on my only day to sleep in. The room... more

We were on a world trip for four months and stayed at Hartwell House for two nights whilst travelling through New England. We came on the bus and were able to walk there from the bus station. It is a beautiful property and we stayed in the smaller double room. The property is immaculate and furnished with amazing antiques which... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hartwell House for one night but I definitely wish that it had been for more. Linda is great and her poached eggs really are the best I've had, which was a surprise. It's very much like you are staying in someone's house and you do share a bathroom but it's fine and everything is... more

I enjoyed my stay at Hartwell House. Linda fixed a full breakfast with eggs and was very pleasant. When one is away from home, it's a relief to locate a fairly-priced B&B in wihch to lay one's head. Linda will go to Heaven for her kindness. more

Linda, our hostess was very nice and helpful. You should know that they have three dogs so if you are allergic, you wouldn't want to stay here. We didn't have a problem with the dogs but thought it should have been noted on the website. We booked two rooms that had a shared bath. However, we soon realized that this... more

We spent three nights at the Hartwell House during our recent visit to Burlington. After a day out in the snowy cold, it was wonderful to come back to our cozy and warm bed and breakfast! Everything was very clean and neat, the beds were very comfortable, the shower was hot! We felt like we were family friends up for... more

The upside of Hartwell B&B are the gracious and helpful owners - Linda and Michael. They are eager to help tourists find the best back roads for lovely scenic drives and they are truly nice people. Yet the house itself is not adequate for a real B&B - we felt very claustrophobic in the house - the rooms are VERY... more

There are some really good aspects of this B&B. The hostess could not be nicer or more accommodating. It was very clean and filled with interesting artifacts. The price was excellent. For people with a car it is a great location - a five minute drive to downtown, but in a quiet residential location. The pool and yard were beautiful... more

I was quite disappointed by this B&B. The queen room that we booked was VERY small -- pretty much a single room with a double bed squeezed in. And although the website says only two rooms share the bathroom, it turned out to be three, which was too many really and quite inconvenient. Although the landlady was quite friendly, she... more
