We were not happy with our stay at the English Rose Inn. My husband was running a race in town. Although the owner was friendly - it did not seem clean. It was cluttered downstairs. Breakfast was the "right idea", however my yogurt had a bug in it. The bedroom was "cute", but the sheets seemed suspect. The bathroom was... more

We had 39 people in our Inn that weekend. This couple ran a very challenging race. They were unhappy with the way the race was managed by the race director. He changed the rules at the last minute. So they were disqualified half way into the ran. When they returned here they were very displeased with their outcome and left...

For $110 a night, plus baked-in gratuity (even though a sign in the room urged a tip be left because gratuities were not included), we did not get our money's worth. The room was nicely furnished with towels and blankets, but the cleanliness of such items was somewhat suspect. Conversations with other travelers indicated that our fears may have been... more

The Inn was very cozy and had wonderful charm! The Staff of 3 were all nice, very knowledgeable about the region, and did their best to make all the guests feel comfortable during their stay. Breakfast our first morning was french toast with peaches and cream--tasty. The second morning we were served eggs benedict with the BEST hollandaise sauce I've... more

This was the worst hotel experience that I've ever had. The "Victorian Charm" is a stretch to say the least. Our bill was $300 total for two nights with a "Fireplace" room. They had me sign for the entire weekend before we saw our room. We were asked to remove our shoes to preserve the wooden floors. But, the entire... more

In response to “Never Ever Again” and Awful Room at the English Rose Inn” they were the couple that stayed in the English Garden Suite. They only paid $110.00 per night for the room, not $300.00 as they claimed. That included a full hot breakfast and afternoon tea. From the moment they walked in we knew they were going to...

Terrible value for the money. We stayed in the English Garden Suite. The room was very run-down, as was the hallway we had to walk through to get to it. The fireplace in the room isn't a real fireplace. The bathroom had a soft spot under the ugly linoleum floor and it felt like the floor was going to cave... more

I have to say I was a little disappointed. The rooms were EXTREMELY SMALL, I felt as though I couldn't get out of my own way. It was also loud you could hear everything through your door no insulation in the walls, I felt I was sharing a room with all my neighbors. I was looking forward to a yummy... more

We have only one room that is small, 10x10. After all the house was built in the 1850's. We always tell our guest BEFORE they book it that this is a small room. When this person booked this room it was the only room we had left. I told this guest repeatedly that the room was not very large and...

Previous reviews give quite a range from the very best to the very worst. However there is one review that some of the things we agree with,“Not the best, not the worst-not as advertised”. The weekend we were there the weather was nice, it snowed on friday the 22nd of Feb, and we snowboarded on Sat all day. Also on... more

This is by far the worst bed and breakfast that I have ever stayed in. The second I walked in they charged my entire stay to my credit card, including gratuity (which they advertise as not being added to the room bill). To start, the bedroom ceiling was ready to cave in because of water damage -- the poor painting... more

Freezing rain and icey condtions at themountain the weekend he was here. He left early due to an injured ankle. It is absolutely standard in this business to charge when checking in. We are a bed and Breakfast and not a hotel. We do not overbook our rooms, we promise the room is available to you when you arrive. Once...

We stayed at the Inn for 2 nights in January. While the proprietors were friendly enough, not overly friendly, but fine-we didn't feel that the price we paid for the "suite" was a good value, and that the room was misrepresented. We booked for $155/night the York suite which was converted from 2 rooms to one. The bathroom was very... more

High Winds and Freezing Rain prevented this couple from Skiing at Jay. They were very upset because the mountain was closed during their two day stay. We are a Bed and Breakfast located in an 1850’s farmhouse. If they want large rooms and updated décor then they need to go to the newly built townhouses at Jay Peak. Instead of...
