We looked forward to staying at the English Rose Inn. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. When we checked in, it felt like one of those places you never check out. From the get go there was controversy with the arrangement, The brochure clearly states a jacuzzi in every room and wood fire places. The jacuzzi... more

I stayed at the English Rose this past winter and was quite disappointed. As many have referenced here the owner seemed quite rude both at checkin and over breakfast. The food was actually fairly good, certainly not the gourmet offerings advertised, but tolerable. When I finished the small glass of juice I was bluntly told "no refills" followed a moment... more

We stayed at the English Rose Inn looking forward to an Inn experience to compliment our days spent skiing at Jay Peak. The name and website conjure up a typical New England Inn with a hint of the old world, but the reality is a reasonable ski hotel at the price of an authentic inn. While an effort has been... more

I think the cleaning in the place is not done thoroughly enough. Bathroom was not completely clean and we found somebody else's hair in bed. The house is and looks quite old, and internal decor is somewhat random. The location is good though, breakfast satisfactory, and pricing is reasonable. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends only because... more

We were hoping for a romantic ski get-away at this B&B advertised as a Victorian inn. It's acceptable as a done-over ski lodge, but overall a disappointment. Clean, but a musty smell in the room and bathroom. Bed was ok, but room was small. Woken early every morning by shower and flushes in pipes above our head! Lots of trinkets... more

From the time this couple arrived it was apparent that they were very unapproachable. They booked a room for them and their college age son. Obviously, they were not looking for a romantic weekend with their son in the same room! People should write honest reviews. This couple was very demanding and we worked very hard to please them. They...

This was our first time at a B&B. Living in Manhattan, we don't go country very often. When we do ski, we go west. But for the long Valentine's Day weekend we went to Jay Peak and stayed 3 nights at the English Rose. The day we left, I said - "This is the kind of place that'd be fun... more

The English Rose Inn was one of the worst inns we have stayed in all of Vermont, and we have stayed in b&b's all over. Room #15 was basically in the attic, with a slanted bathroom suited for somebody very short (difficult for a man to pee), the bed smelled and severely 'sunk-in' when you got on it and there... more

We were not happy with our stay at the English Rose Inn. My husband was running a race in town. Although the owner was friendly - it did not seem clean. It was cluttered downstairs. Breakfast was the "right idea", however my yogurt had a bug in it. The bedroom was "cute", but the sheets seemed suspect. The bathroom was... more

We had 39 people in our Inn that weekend. This couple ran a very challenging race. They were unhappy with the way the race was managed by the race director. He changed the rules at the last minute. So they were disqualified half way into the ran. When they returned here they were very displeased with their outcome and left...

For $110 a night, plus baked-in gratuity (even though a sign in the room urged a tip be left because gratuities were not included), we did not get our money's worth. The room was nicely furnished with towels and blankets, but the cleanliness of such items was somewhat suspect. Conversations with other travelers indicated that our fears may have been... more

The Inn was very cozy and had wonderful charm! The Staff of 3 were all nice, very knowledgeable about the region, and did their best to make all the guests feel comfortable during their stay. Breakfast our first morning was french toast with peaches and cream--tasty. The second morning we were served eggs benedict with the BEST hollandaise sauce I've... more
