I must start this review by thanking Doug & Libby (proprietors) at the 1850 River House for making our stay with them simply awesome. The 1850 River House is a nice, quiet location just down the road from Montpelier, but within walking distance to the Red Hen Bakery (for amazing breads and the requisite coffee/lattes) and a delicious homemade ice cream place. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a place close to the slopes (my hubby & Son skied Mad River Glen) while I had a spa day. Both days breakfast was amazing and we felt right at home. We also took a short drive to the Ben & Jerry's factory as well. more
