Never in my life have I stayed at such a fabulous inn. The innkeepers, Janis and Parker are some of the most generous and accomidating innkeepers I have ever stayed with. Their inn, although in a rustic building is kept alive with strong modern decor that would be sure to please anyone. Their pool was by far the most well... more

Janis and Parker made our trip to Stowe a much more enjoyable trip with their friendliness and hospitality. We stayed at their place the last night of our trip (I wish we had stayed there the entire trip), and found it very much like home. The rooms were nice, and clean…with lots of different options for room types (I peaked... more

This was our first trip to Vermont to see the fall leaves. We found the Inn and the owners to be quite nice. Janis and Parker are very friendly and offered suggestions of where to go and where to eat. The breakfasts were delicious!! We would stay here again and would recommend the Inn to our friends. more

My husband and I stayed at the Butternut Inn on and off for a year while our home was being built. We found a warm welcome each time we arrived and felt very comfortable roaming around the 7 common rooms and the 11 acres on the river. We returned many times simply because it became our home away from home. more

Pouring down rain for Stowe's Balloon Festival put a damper on our spirits... but not on Stowe or our Inn. Now, if there was ever a day an inn should smell "funny" as the posters below claim, this Saturday would have been the day, but no. The inn was clean, the room was nice, the little extras all in place.... more

I had read the reviews since it was one of the few places I could find for peak foliage weekend in October. I reluctantly booked it based on what I read here and had low expectations. There reviews were TOTALLY incorrect!! This was the BEST INN (or Bed and Breakfast) we have ever stayed at! The place was beautiful as... more

Same experience as other reviews--in a word, they are careless. The room smelled horribly of sewer gas when we got back in the evening. We had to switch ourselves to another room--the proprietor's were gone and there was no phone or way to contact them and the stench was sickening. Breakfast food (like cereal/bread/coffee) was left out overnight. The innkeepers... more

I’ve stayed at many country inns, but this place ranks at the low end. The facility is somewhat worn, the room smelled of sewer gas - caused by a poorly seated toilet. The kitchen absolutely reeked of cat urine, although I saw no cats. The owner left food out on the counter overnight; I stayed away from anything that didn’t... more

At first the Inn looked inviting. The rooms are quite worn and the housekeeping has a lot to be desired. Our room was not that clean. The food was fair. The grounds are overgrown and in need of a good landscaper. The pool was murky. The innkeepers are very nice but they have a lot to do with this Inn.... more
