Prospect Hill Inn is a joke compared to other B&B's in the Charlottesville area. The appearance of the plantation home is gaudied up by cheap furnishings, broken furniture (our desk was missing handles), horrible paint jobs and cheap blinds that didn't even fit the window or even stay on for that matter. Having booked the entire grounds for a wedding... more

Obviously this guest was disappointed at her stay but over the past 30 years we have strived to make everyone happy, and if not, we would like to refund their money, whatever she paid for her accommodations. Not everyone appreciates that our rooms in original yet renovated lodgings in former slave quarters, kitchen, carriage house, etc. Most unsatisfied guests that...

My husband and I recently had dinner with friends at Prospect Hill to celebrate my birthday. Everything was perfect. I have not ever had a better dinner, the staff was attentive and very friendly, it was a wonderful evening. Since we live in Charlottesville we did not stay at the Inn, but hope to do that in the future. Whether... more

"The Hill" is about 20 minutes outside Charlottesville on a quiet road up in the Virginia foothills. We got a wonderful tour from the owners daughter, who happened to be there that day, and had grown up, and lived in the very room we were staying in. No key, I asked? Not the way things are up here. Very genteel,... more

My wife and I spend our anniversary at Prospect Hill every December and we have never been disappointed! In fact, immediately upon arrival each year we book for the same three nights the next year. Prospect Hill offers outstanding cuisine, impeccable service, a wood-burning fireplace in every room, a truly romantic experience. Our visit this December will be our 15th... more

Prospect Hill booked another wedding on the same day as ours even though we'd left a $500 deposit to "secure the day." They then pushed us to move our wedding to another day. We ended up asking for our deposit back after very peculiar and bizarre treatment by the wedding coordinator. The owner was defensive and refused to refund our... more

I can't believe that some of the reviewers who wrote about Prospect Hill stayed at the same inn that I did. (!) My husband and I were fortunate enough to have our wedding at Prospect Hill back in April 2001, and I cannot say enough about the kindness and the courtesy of the staff and the management there. The innkeeper,... more

My boyfriend and I had wonderful and relaxing experience at Prospect Hill! We definitly recommend staying in the Summer Kitchen cottage, it had a rustic/cozy yet romantic feel to the it. We checked the other rooms the following day and were extremely happy that he chose this specific room. We thought the place was very well kept and the inn... more

We had a marvelous stay at Prospect Hill to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our room (former slaves' quarters) was quaint and comfy. The fireplace was stacked and ready to go and there was fruit and wine waiting for us. The staff was attentive and gracious without being instrusive. We enjoyed meeting other guests during the wine reception, and dinner was... more

Their website is honest - I was afraid it was too well done and that the place wouldn't be so nice, but it's a beautiful, quiet setting. The rooms are nice, the pool refreshing, and the breakfast was really tasty. I think it's too expensive, but you can skip their $100 dinner and just get the cheapest room fro $200... more

I had the worst b&b experience of my life at Prospect Hill. The surroundings are flat and ugly. The innkeeper was rude to me and my family. Just about everything about the place is awful. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Inn at Monticello or somewhere off of skyline drive. more
