We stayed in the newer rooms - ours was HUGE. Apparently these rooms were converted from office space to apartments - to our advantage. We had two king beds, a pullout sofa, full kitchen, 3 tvs - all clean, and the hotel has a clean, large indoor pool, and 24 hour coffee! Oh - and breakfast was included, too! The... more

First of all, stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. It's new and nice and the staff is nice. The bed is comfortable. All the great things I cannot say about the English Inn. The front desk staff clearly was not happy to have to check people in. My room was very dark and the mattress was not up to my... more

After a day-long visit to Montecello, we drove three miles to the English Inn and were greatly impressed. The hotel is clean, quiet and inexpensive. The clerk at the front desk enthusiastically welcomed us to the inn. She even paid us a courtesy call once we got to our room. She also directed us to a delightful nearby Mexican restaurant... more

Though this hotel is an older property, it's upkeep and appearance has kept pace. The common areas are attractive and comfortable. Our guestroom was spacious and appeared to have been recently renovated with new carpet and bedding. Beds comfortable. The bathroom was large and tub/shower conbination . sink (small vanity).....very clean. TV reception was not the best, but watchable and... more

We lived in Ch'ville for 3 years and had no idea this existed! Sure we saw it when we drove back and forth on the main strip but we never heard a thing about it. I was looking for a place with suites so my kids could have separate rooms. I called every hotel I could think of and finally... more

After reading all of the great reviews about the English Inn, I began to expect a 5-star hotel! As a result, instead of being pleasantly surprised by what we received for a reasonable price, I was a bit disappointed. Everything was nice, but completely expected. So, if you are hoping to be pleasantly surprised, don't read too many detailed reviews.... more

My wife and I visited Charlottesville for the first time this summer. The staff at the English Inn made us feel welcome and at home. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well kept with all the accouterments you will need. The Conservatory off the lobby is a great place to meet with friends, relax and talk over complimentary coffee and... more

We stayed for two weekend nights and were pleased with the value($100/night). The English Inn is an older hotel that has been mostly renovated. The carpets, draperies, and common areas were all nice. But the in-room heating and cooling units need to be replaced. Admittedly, the temps outside were in the mid-90s and it's tough for any AC to do... more

We stayed at the English Inn for 5 nights (July 13-18). We were completely satisfied. The room was clean and comfortable. We didn't use the microwave, but the refrigerator was a must for us. The pool is huge! We used it three times and enjoyed it very much. It was clean and didn't irritate our eyes too much. The cookies... more
