I stayed at the English Inn last week with my mother and two children. My mother is a wheel chair user, and finding a hotel with good accessibility is problematic. Often times hotels say they are accessible, but in reality are not. The English Inn has the best accessibility we have encountered outside of the Disney properties in Florida. The... more

We stayed in the extended suites in this exceptional establishment. As world travellers, my husband and I found our experience at the English Inn to be comparable to the finest hotels anywhere in the world. The suite was huge, clean, excellent amenities, quiet and we easily could have stayed for months. The owner and staff were very personable. To add... more

I stayed at the English Inn and was pleased to find that the property was just as they had advertised. At check in, we were told that there would be cookies out in the afternoon, which my kids loved. Later that evening we asked for suggestions on a place to eat dinner and found that there were several restaurants within... more

I see all of the glowing reviews for this hotel and all I can think of is that times change. On my recent stay, the staff appeared to me to be smug and surly, which doesn't really affect your stay unless you need something. Maybe they've had some staff turnover because I can't imagine giving this place good marks. The... more

Our recent visit to the English Inn was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. The interior is dark and dreary; the rooms themselves similar to a Sleep Inn. Every time we needed help with something, we were met with an arrogant, condescending attitude by the staff. Even a request for an herbal tea bag resulted in a lecture... more

We had a very pleasant stay here. The beds are quite comfortable, the complimentary breakfast is bountiful and delicious, and the staff most pleasant and accomodating. The proximity to the University campus and the John Paul Jones Arena makes this a wonderful location for those interesting in attending sporting events and visiting the beautiful UVA grounds. more

I always enjoy visiting the lovely and charming Charlottesville, VA on business, and stumbled on this hotel here on TripAdvisor. For the money, it's a bargain ... free internet (although I found it to be spotty), free breakfast (which was robust), and an overly friendly staff made for a very enjoyable stay. Good location - easy access to downtown and... more

Let me make one thing clear, I have traveled a lot. I've stayed everywhere: from Sheraton's and Wyndham's to silly little side road motels. The English Inn was the best value I've ever experienced. It was so good in fact, I had to check with the front desk (who was ever so helpful) because I was so shocked at the... more

My husband and I recently had the wonderful experience at staying at the English Inn, this is not a "chain" but if you are looking for a hotel that makes you feel at home with the smell of fresh baked cookies, then this is where I recommend you stay. Go ahead and take a dip in the heated pool if... more
