I recently stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. i was visiting a family friend at uva hospital and i really enjoyed our stay. great location, good parking, great walking enviroment basically around the bend from the hospital. large rooms and a very nice and warm staff. reasonably priced for a couple..not too kid friendly..no pool. i recommend red roof... more
We stayed at this hotel while having to be with family at UVA. First off the hotel has a good location to UVA and the hospital area. There are several eateries and bars within an easy walking distance of the hotel. We felt safe in and around the hotel and walking near by. The rooms and lobbies looked to recently... more
Always, always in this place - the old HoJo's now completely renovated. Still, it's a Red Roof: decently priced but no frills. It is closest to the Lawn and the Corner etc. which means that you may be sharing a floor with a sports team come to lose to the Cavaliers. Because of renovation, things seem clean and spiffy but... more
Nice location to UVA, college bars and dining. No opening windows in rooms, but great free coffee/expresso in the lobby. Staff was nice and easy. No night sounds that desturbed us. Easy walk to several nice restaurants and bars. Covered parking was nice for our motorcycles. Safe feeling area. Nice walk to the campus and beyond. No complaints! more
Recently stayed at this hotel. It is located in the heart of "The Corner" near the UVA grounds. It was by far the best price for a hotel in this area (we have stayed in many hotels here) especially for one that is making the effort to update it's facilities. It was very clean. Our two double bed room was... more
This past (memorial day) weekend was my first visit to Charlottesville. I wanted a decent priced hotel, but being a holiday weekend my choices were limited to the Red Roof Inn and a few other hotels/inns which were not in a convenient location. I first booked at the Hampton Inn on India Road, but not really knowing the city, I... more
I was 'put up' at this hotel for a job interview. I stayed with my husband and my dog. The staff was very nice and the hotel was quiet; HOWEVER: I requested a non-smoking room and the room they gave me was designated non smoking but it STUNK like smoke and mold. It was on the top floor and every... more
The Red Roof Inn is staying upon while renovating, but they are not taking adequate steps to protect their guest's safety. When we arrived, we had to navigate around huge piles of construction debris in the parking garage. The fire alarms sounded at 11:30. The fire department responded and found no fire. Sprinklers kicked off in the basement, seriously dousing... more
Maybe my biggest problem was that I had previously stayed at the (new) Hampton Inn about two or three blocks down the road. In any case, I stayed at the Red Roof Inn because it has - without question - the best location in terms of UVA and the nearly village shops. Unfortunately, location is all that this hotel has... more
