I made reservations through the hotel website for 2 nights but the next day, the day I was to travel, I was prevented from doing so. I attempted to call the hotel to cancel, per their stated cancellation policy. It proved to be impossible to cancel the reservation without freezing my bank account and canceling my debit/credit card! The 800#... more

The Stratford is a rundown, yucky motel. A cheap motel but not a cheap price so it's a terrible value. I've stayed in Danville several times in the last few months as my son is playing football for Hargrave. All the nice hotels run you $80-$100 a night. I personally try to book the Comfort Inn, Best Western or Courtyard... more

Don't go. What used to be is no more. Bar closed, restaurant closed. Room dirty. Towels small. Shower won't turn off. Loud full time government sponsored housing tenants loud and profane. Without a doubt the worst place I have ever stayed in the USA. Much like Saigon. more

I happened to be reading some of the recent reviews & the ones that had 'good' reviews amazed me. I used to live in Danville 9 years ago so I know how the hotel 'used' to be. Now it has REALLY gone down. The management/owners are Indians (which is no biggie) but it seems like they really don't care about... more

Don't waste your time. My husband and I arrived on July 4th for the weekend. It was dark and desolate. The pool was dirty and the room was old and nasty. To top things off no breakfast. The hotel is outside quarters and a larger potion of the hotel is now "room for rent (apartment/lodging for locals)" and yes, you... more

I have stayed in this hotel before this weekend (2006). We were pleased with that stay, great breakfast buffet, fairly clean rooms and nice staff. Things have certainly changed for the worst! We arrived on Saturday 3.29.08 for the spring Martinsville race. The restaurant/bar was closed (no free breakfast), our reservations were messed up (we requested smoking rooms, not available)... more

I attempted to stay at the Stratford Inn . I made my 2 night reservation online using their web site. Upon arrival I was informed that I had a room for one night only. Being a hot august day we were looking forward to a nice cool air- conditioned room. NOT ! It was 92' outside and 110' inside the... more

This motel is older. Our room was fairly clean (a little bit of mold in the bathroom). When we first got there, our room was a musty smelling, but I think the A/C helped with that problem. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant there--only one waitress to handle both diners and the bar, but... more

My family and I visit Danville at least twice a year. We stay at the Stratford Inn because it is centrally located and has a good bar and retaurant on premises. Great happy hour specials in the bar and the restaurant! Excellent breakfast included in room rate. Sadly the Hotel is not as clean as it used to be and... more
