My wife and I stayed at the Tides Inn 1-4 May 2013. This was our first stay at the Tides and it was a marvelous experience. From the moment we arrived until we departed, the staff was excellent. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The meals at the Chesapeake Club were outstanding and the restaurant staff were superb. We thoroughly... More

My husband and I decided to spend our 30th wedding anniversary in Irvington in this lovely property. We liked it so much to make it an annual event and include our kids and grandkids. From the first greeting of Brian , the valet, to the checkout 3 days later, we were pampered and spoiled. Having been trained in the hotel... More

I recently stayed at the Tides Inn in Irvington, VA . . . and thoroughly enjoyed the property and the service. The inn offers beautiful scenery, lovely environment and plenty to do. We played tennis and golf and summer visitors can look forward to boating as well. A great destination for family reunions or special occasions, especially if visitors take... More

I don't feel sometimes weathered sailors get a decent break or service when they enter port, but the welcome and service levels is way above extreme high tide at The Tides Inn. From the point of passing under the Rappahannock River's first bridge, the anticipation builds as one enter's Carter's Creek and the recognizable Tides Inn Red Roof comes into... More

It's been 20 years since we've been to the Inn and were glad things have not changed. The service was impeccable. Our room facing the water was perfectly appointed with a most comfortable bed and pillows. And televisions now!

It is wonderful to know nothing has changed but of course here we refer to the art of hospitality. Many things have been renewed or improved and yes we have had televisions for many years , the latest ones are lcd with blu ray players which compliment nicely the plethora of modern amenities such as WI FI. Please don't leave... More

When it came to choosing a venue for our daughter's wedding, this resort was the hands down choice. The wedding was this past weekend and everything from the ceremony on the croquet pitch to the cocktail reception in the View Room to the dinner reception in the Cove Room to the Farewell Breakfast in the King Carter Room to guest... My wife and I spent a four-day escape to The Tides Inn as an end-of-the-winter reward. This was our first experience with the Inn and found a large and friendly staff who would go to any length to ensure a satisfying sojourn. Excellent cuisine with a wide range of creative options. A wonderfully large patio overlooking an inlet where we... More

The Tides is a great new find for me and my wife. A good value at $225 however there is a resort fee that, like most resorts, you never really see up front. Kind of wish resorts would just add that to the flat rate. Our first impression was not good because the sign at the entrance of the long... More

Tom. I do declare I think you are fair and I am grateful for the ideas and observations. I think it could be very civilised to discuss some of these over a Lancaster lemonade on your next visit. As I think we have a good friend in the making here. Gordon Slatford More

This is a "bucket list" outing in a beautiful area of Virginia. We only stayed one night in the winter so did not participate in the golf, sailing, biking etc. However, you do pay a "resort fee" for these activities even if you do not use them. Also - the rooms are surprisingly small but well-appointed. All in all worth... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
On a lush peninsula in Virginia’s historic Northern Neck, the waterfront Tides Inn has welcomed generations of friends and families who cherish the relaxed pace of local life and the Southern hospitality of our staff. Guests can learn to sail at the on-site sailing school, or explore the calm waterways via kayaks, canoes and paddleboats, frequently spotting bald eagles, osprey and herons. The 18-hole Golden Eagle golf course is a pleasantly challenging wooded course with water hazards, and there is also a Par-3 course, tennis, croquet, and spa, plus bicycles for pedaling into town. Our farm-to-table cuisine highlights oysters from the nearby Rappahannock River, and we’re located on the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail with several Virginia wineries nearby. ... more   less
