My husband and I stayed at the Meander Inn for 3 nights...which was 3 nights to long! Upon our arrival the Hosts were extremely intoxicated and very very insulting. We ignored their rude and ignorant behavior and proceeded to our room. Throughout the rest of our stay they ridiculed and humiliated us. All I wanted to do was go home.... more

Very interesting to see the way people can act when you joke and have a good time. Not so funny when they insult you and found very strange that they can said that the owners where intoxicated on their arrivals in the afternoon? What did they mean by that ?Now concerning our family time , yes we have family time...

I can only confirm the statements made about the owner. I am European myself and I have a good sense of humor but the jokes of Alain are anything but funny. All they do is make you feel uncomfortable and want to leave the place. But I really lost my humor when I was ripped off by the their wine... more

We just spent the weekend at the Meander Inn and had a wonderful time. The setting is beautiful along the Rockfish River, and the Inn is set high on a rocky mound overlooking acres of horse country. In addition, there are multiple animals, including a pair of geese roaming rhe grounds, plus a large assortment of dogs, cats, and birds.... more

Always difficult to please every one .. Since open in 1999 with more than 4000 guests that came and come back it is very difficult to see what people can write sometimes . Sorry about the wine , unfortunatelly I dnt produce virginian Wines, and our wine lovers package is done with Virginian wines .As for the food , married...

The nice surroundings and a wife who tried to be cordial did did not stop the male host of the Meander Inn from making us feel defensive and anything but relaxed during our stay. He referred to Virginians as "inbreds" and on several occasion called my daughter and I "schmucks." (I'm not kidding) I am an open minded person and... more

I booked a stay in December of 2005. Upon arrival at the appointed time, I found the Inn completely empty except for a cat. No cars, no sign of life. We called, knocked and waited for 20 minutes before calling it quits and driving back to Charlottesville to find a hotel. On the way, I got one of the proprietors... more

We were delighted with our stay at the Meander Inn. The innkeepers are hospitable and accomodating. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome. You should note that the Inn has changed hands since the 2003 unfavorable review you show. I found it much preferable to Wintergreen's accomodations. If you need to be in the Nellysford... more

We stayed here April 2005 and loved both the inn and the area. We had a change of plans and were able to cancel our reservation for the following weekend and changed our stay so we were arriving that night instead. We booked a room here in Aug 02--for October. We had to cancel in Sept, giving them plenty of notice but they charged our credit card anyway. We are currently disputing the charge with VISA. I don't know how reputable this place is. Boar's Head is great. Go there instead. Or Wintergreen Resort. more
