The hotel really is right next to the train tracks. From the small patio, you could probably lean over the wall and touch the trains going by, and some of the freight trains really fly. We used the Kranenturm as our home base during out stay in the Rhine Valley. The bulding is chock full of history, built right into the stone wall of the city, adjacent to the river. My husband and I visited the Rhine area and stayed in this hotel at the end of July. Don't worry about the rail track, the windows are thick and you don't hear any noise. The service was excellent and the restaurant is fantastic. The boat trip on the Rhine is a must! more
