Hotel La Palma is a fabulous, popular hotel in the quaint historic fishing village of Sant' Angelo, the most beautiful part of Ischia. Ischia is a destination still undiscovered by Americans, but is a favorite of Germans, Austrians and Italians. Associated with La Palma is the Hotel Il Fortino; I have stayed there twice once in 2006 and most recently in July 08. Il Fortino is situated above the La Palma and is about a 5-10 min walk up the hill. Don't go to Ischia unless you are very ambulatory; the walk up to Il Fortino is for the fit only. During my stay, very few people were at Il Fortino, which meant that after a delicious breakfast was served by genial hostesses, there is no one at the hotel. Lock your room and take your key. If you need anything, ask Nicola at the desk at La Palma. You will be offered a menu in the morning to choose your 5 course dinner served at La Palma (only in Deutsch and Italiano).
