I'm happy to post a review, a very positive one, and I'm surprised that until now no one has suggested the Hotel Villa Romana as a place to stay while in Piazza Armerina. My wife, young daughter, and I stayed two weeks at the hotel, as part of a high school student exchange (the HS students, including my son, lived with Italian host families).
Rooms are small by American standards, but well-furnished and comfortable. Our room had a satellite TV, with CNN and BBC, though we rarely turned it on. The en suite bathroom had a full shower. There was never any shortage of hot water. Best of all, rooms were cleaned daily, very thoroughly, with clean sheets on the bed and fresh towels in the bathroom.
Breakfast was a simple affair, with food laid out on a table in the restaurant. It included juices, milk, rolls, cereal, and sometimes cheese and meat. You could call it a continental+ breakfast. Also, there was an automatic barista-style coffee/expresso/cappucinno...
