The review by BHayes55 is 100% accurate and exactly represents our view. These are a great base for a walking holiday and the first levada can be easily reached on foot from here (it starts close to the Stadium). This property is also closer to the centre of Madeira than most of the large hotels.

We were disappionted with the apartment,it was very dark,very hot,it needs air con,we were told not to open the shutters and windows for security reasons. The photos used to advetise the property are misleading.

Vilas Oliveira on Rue dos Ilheus is not in Canico, but near the Casino in Funchal. The vilas are in a beautiful garden near the home of the owner, whose great grandfather first lived there. First I should say the street address is correct (Rua dos Ilheus 20) but in Funchal, not Canico. Vilas Oliveiras are one-bedroom self-catering bungalows in the grounds of the Quinta Edina, one of many detached residences in large walled gardens in Rua dos Ilheus.
