We spent a pleasant couple of nights in the Hotel Madreselva, and would have spent another couple if there were rooms available. There was a buffet breakfast (included in the price) of all the cold meat, fruit, bread., yoghurts and the like that you wanted to eat, the room was clean and reasonably large, with a totally private patio type... more

This is a small quaint place that offers a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. A very pleasant staff. Found it in my daughters Spain book, we were traveling during her school break in Sevilla. She plans to return, I'm back in USA. Lynn from Texas more

We booked the Madreselva for four nights at end of September. Caños de Meca is a very small village, with a lot of tourism in July and August. End of September, the village is basically empty: there are nearly no bars or restaurants open. We arrived and the weather was awful, and we were completely disappointed. It was not possible... more

The Madreselva is in all the guidebooks to Special Places to stay and it should be. It is attractive with spacious rooms arranged around a courtyard on ground level and my room at least had its own tiny patio. Also a good bathroom. The staff are friendly, English speaking, and there is a good buffet breakfast included in the price,... more

Because it was Easter, we could only stay at the super Casa del Califa for a few nights, so we were directed to the Madreselva in Los Canos about four miles from Vejer de la Fronterra. We had seen the hotel before and what a surprise it was to see the changes made by the new managent at the Califa.... more

After I left Tarifa I went to stay in Caños de Meca and found the Madreselva Hotel. It is a bed and breakfast but they are great restaurants around and you need a car. Zoe, the girl at the reception was very helpful in recommending them and the barman Armando is a character! The beaches are great, especially the nude... more

After reading the other reviews on this site, and reading other reviews about Los Canos de Meca, we had a picture in our minds of a quiet, secluded area and a small, clean b&b. Perhaps it is like this at other times. However, we were horrible disappointed when we arrived. Perhaps August is not the time to go to Los... more

My husband is a kitesurfer and loves the spot at Trafalgar-- we spent a few days at the Madreselva- a 20 room bed and breakfast with friendly staff and nice rooms with patios. The breakfast was a small buffet and after we would walk along the spectacular beaches with their towering cliffs. If the wind came up my husband would... more

On a recent visit to Andalusia we searched out some beach towns off the regular tourist track. Imagine our delight when we stumbled upon Canos de la Meca. A piece of heaven - beautiful forests, tranquil town, and the best beach i've ever seen in Spain! We stayed at the Madre Selva, right near the beach.Clean spotless rooms, friendly service... more

Some of Spain's most beautiful beaches are located at the site of the battle of Trafalgar which was off the small costal village of Caños de Meca, in the province of Cadiz. There are great spots for all tastes: families; nudists; hippies; kitesurfers and windsurfers. Caños de Meca is surrounded by a national park -- a vast umbrella pine forest.... more
