Visited Vell Mari for a week in August 2023. Staff: The hotel staff demonstrated exceptional hospitality towards the guests. Despite arriving past midnight due to a delayed flight, the receptionist received us with a friendly smile even though he also seemed tired. The entertainment staff was also proactive in organizing various activities, such as sports matches and games, to keep the guests entertained. Cleanliness/Housekeeping: The rooms were serviced daily by the housekeeping staff while the guests were having breakfast. The housekeeping staff ensured that the beds were made, the bins were emptied, new towels were provided, and the floor was mopped. However, the cleanliness of the resort deteriorated as the week progressed. We noticed it started declining after we observed a man conducting inspections around the resort. The pool area, sitting areas, plates, and bowls were not cleaned thoroughly, & we would often find empty bottles, cups, and wrappers scattered around the pool area in the next morning. Food: We found the food to be quite monotonous with limited options. We were left with no choice but to resort to Spaghetti Bolognese for most meals, while our children had to satisfy themselves with chips & Pizza from the kids' buffet during lunch and dinner. Though the hotel offered different vegetables once a week, the variety was insignificant. The complimentary day drinks provided were basic but sufficient, while the night drinks were exceptional. Among the night drinks, the 'Vell Mari' was particularly noteworthy and highly recommendable for anyone visiting the hotel. Facilities & Entertainment: The Vell Mari facilities were quite impressive. The Tennis Court and Football facilities were in good shape and provided a great experience. The pool was of a decent size, but the sunbed availability became an issue as guests tended to race for them and then leave their belongings unattended while they went for breakfast or to the beach. Although signs were placed stating that towels left to reserve seats would be taken to reception if not returned within an hour, this was not enforced. As a result, sunbeds remained occupied throughout the day, making it difficult for other guests to find a spot to relax. Location: The hotel's location was convenient, with a quiet bus stop located outside the back gates. The main bus line connects to the capital city Palma, with a travel time of only an hour. Additionally, a bus line is available to transport guests to the center of Alcúdia. The bus stop is not frequently used, with only a few people seen there daily. The hotel is situated a short walk away from the beach and market, while there was a Lidle which provides guests with a convenient option to purchase necessities that are not available in the hotel's souvenir shop. Furthermore, a Mercadona and ALDI supermarket are located down the road, providing guests with additional shopping options. Overall it was a good place but would recommend it if they keep up with teh cleanliness as they really let themselves down. If the cleanliness improves I would love to return with my family.

we have just returned from a week all inclusive at the vell mari and had a fantastic time . the rooms were fine and beds comfortable ,a lick of paint here or there wouldn't go amiss but not dilapidated as some reviews might have you believe. rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed .A/C worked well. the grounds were immaculate ,very well kept ,i never saw anything lying on the grass ,the staff work hard to keep them looking pristine. watch out for the sprinklers as some of them seem to do a 360 when operating so you could get an unexpected shower when walking past. theres a lot of trees so you do get mosquitos ,not a major issue as you can get them anywhere and the look of the trees makes up for any mild annoyance, the pool area does get busy but we never had an issue with loungers , we were there for the first week of october so not peak season ,maybe at the height of summer things would be different but for us ,there were sunbeds available up to mid afternoon and no sunbed wars as detailed in the press lately, staff walk round every hour or so collecting glasses etc so theres no clutter. the poolside bar does the usual burgers pizza chips etc and of course a full range of soft drinks or cocktails ,what ever you fancy. the restaurant , food was first class ,varied hot and constantly topped up. the serving area is kept constantly clean . ive read some reviews slating the food and to be honest ,im not sure what some people are expecting but we all eat very well including my granddaughter who is super fussy . pork and chicken seem to be the main ingredients but the chefs are expert at different sauces and recipes so no complaints from us. where ever we were we had to be sure to be back for 8.30pm...mini disco time . my grand daughter absolutely loved the mini disco and i have to say that the animation team are first class, they helped make the holiday for her. the main guy , or certainly the guy you will hear before you see is ,Allesio , ,camper than a row of tents and the kids adore him for it ! the whole team are super friendly ,if you dont want to take part ,no problem ,they wont pester you but their enthusiasm is catching so theres always a good turnout for the various completions they do each day , the reception staff are friendly and helpful infact the staff throughout the complex are all the same ,friendly . they all acknowledge you as you pass with a smile and an Hola. when we were there 90%of the guests were german with some spanish ,only a dozen or so brits. no issues at all with that ,all decent people enjoying the sun. this hotel is as good as any we have stayed at in the past, better actually. ignore the negative reviews ,i found myself wondering if some comments were actually on the wrong site as our experience did not relate to them in any way. we had a blast and have nothing to moan about . Enjoy your holiday !!

I have just come back from holidays in the hotel. The hotel is nice, apartments are very clean. The decor a little bit dated, but this you can see on the photos. Plenty of fun for children. Free tennis courts, jacuzzi which is great. Staff is very polite and friendly. We have half board plan and breakfast was very good, plenty of choice for anyone. I wasn't too keen on dinners as there was not much choice for the meat. Usually chicken or pork, I believe this has to do a lot with German tourist, as 99% were Germans. Meat disappeared very fast. Dinners, not too great. Tables and loungers by the swimming pool could do with some cleaning.

I was there on a 2 week holidays this year on september with my brother. Flew from Poland with TUI Advantages + +Big, nice pool +Great sports fascilities (football and tennis in price) +Nice, polite staff +Good Animations +Bike rental available and at fine price +Spacious rooms +beautiful garden, trees +spacious hotel area +bus stop next to the hotel Disadvantages - -big price for the quality, if that hotel was 3 star and costed not 1700 euro (7800pln) but 1400 euro(6500pln) for 2 weeks (in trip office TUI for a whole trip with flight) it would be quality adequate to price, it should be a 3 star hotel standard, i don't undestand how it has 4 stars -paid drinks like mojito on allinclusive, ice creams in drink bar also paid, such a shame, very pathetic, i would understand some expensive champain or whiskey to be paid but mojito ? It is one of the most popular drinks, ridiculous -coca cola, sprite watered down, tastes worse than low quality freecola from lidl not like the original, not acceptaple at allinclusive 4 star hotel -room standard lower than 4 stars, it is 3 star standard -rooms in need of renovation (unstable beds in 2 different rooms, walls, fugues dirty in bathroom) -food very often too salty -repetitive food, once, twice a week there is better quality meat like lamb -food very often cooked carelessly (Example hard rice, a lot of fishbones) -Food often cold -lunch is between 12:30-15:00, should be up to at least 16:00 or 13:00-16:00 -staff starts to take food 3 minutes before ending of a meal time, in every well respected 4 star hotel in europe staff waits 5-15 minutes to end meal for a customer after ending of meal time, it is not a train or it is not supposed to be low quality hotel, i would understand after dinner when staff wants to go home, but after breakfast or lunch ? They are still at work, and in the food room there is a lot of people like 20-30 percent of the room. Consider changing hours of meals or train staff to wait that 5-15 minutes. In many hotels in Spain i have been to that was unacceptable -food rarely changed 30 minutes before ending of meal time, if you want to relax and wake up late tou need to eat cold food very often and you have less choice of food, unacceptable for a 4 star hotel -paddle tennis paid, quite expensive, and it is officialy not in hotel hands but in private hands but on the hotel area -cold jaccuzi in spa, another argument why it should be a 3 star hotel, paying for a quality and you get something like that, ridiculous -pool available from 10-18 why not up to 20 or 21 when the sun comes down way later than 18 ? -mosquitos in hotel area To sum up. It should be a 3 star hotel, food is average, sometimes there are good dishes but very often too salty and carelessly cooked. Hotel better for families rather than old ones or pairs. Nice staff, pool and garden. It would be good for lower price and if that hotel were marked 3 star seriously.

We have had 6 great holidays at Vell Mari over the last 8 years, -COVID 2020 and 2021. The staff are fantastic from reception, Julie and Annette, and all, through to the restaurant, Antonio, Stepania, Estrella, Sebastian- head chef, and the bars and entertainment team. The rooms are large and comfortable and we had one year 4 rooms for 10 family members- siblings from 5 years to 28. Sports courts are great. This year we had a Premium Room, THE BEST, with lower floor decking access and pool view. Brilliant variety of quality food with the menu changing daily. We will be back there very soon and cannot wait! Thank you and well done Vell Mari.

This hotel is not 4 star and is ripping people off. It is dated, worn and well overdue a complete refurb. The rooms are musty due to damp caused by a lack of sunlight. The trees on the complex provide too much shade, meaning balconies get no sunlight. They also attract mosquitoes. There is no relief there, I’ve been covered in bug spray all week and still bitten badly. The hotel is unkempt and run down, paint is cracking everywhere & the wooden structures are worn. The pool is not big like some have said, and I can’t imagine how busy it would be to be here during high season. They also allow smoking everywhere outdoors in the hotel and people will smoke all over you. The sun loungers are filthy, some have mould on them! It’s a family-oriented hotel, you’ll be woken by screaming children and deafened by them all day long. I say that with no malice, but it’s a consideration if you want a relaxing holiday. The meal times are suited to young families too; awake early and in bed early. The all inclusive service ends at 11pm! They clear the food following each service within minutes of the last opening time. It’s actually obscene how obvious they make it. The food in the canteen is absolutely awful. Bland, repetitive, not fresh, and at times raw! At first glance you would think the buffet is plentiful, but it’s Day 9 for us and so far the meat options have been either a fried chicken breast or fried fish each day. Last night for the first time they had lamb chops as a meat option. The bread is stale, salads are covered in flies and the other items are repeated each day. I added peppers to my salad today and found mould on them. They regurgitate stale food in the form of casseroles or garlic bread and throw random meat into pasta and call it “ragu”. Yesterday at lunch, the chicken was raw. See attached photo. As stated, meal times are very strict and the sullen staff will literally shoo you out if you stay a minute past the meal times. On one occasion at 9.32pm, so 2 minutes after the last service, a waitress slammed her cart into my boyfriend’s arm when passing and didn’t even acknowledge him or the incident. We have noticed that the staff are working killer shifts, on the late night one then back in the following morning, so I’m not surprised they act with contempt towards the guests. There is zero self-serve here except for soft drinks and water, you’ll queue for anything else, including coffee in the morning. Never have I had to ask for the basics in an all inclusive. During the day there is literally one place to get any refreshments, the pool bar. The queue can get long. The pool snack bar serves the same soggy, trash food each day. Pizza slices, sausages and chips. The fruit seems fresh though. There is no room service, no water provided in the rooms except for 1 bottle on Day 1. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, and the first opportunity to get a coffee is when breakfast opens. After 10.30am you’ll have to wait until the pool bar opens at 11 and queue for one. The resort is completely German-language friendly, so if you speak English you’ll be outnumbered and struggle to communicate. I actually speak fluent Spanish having lived in Spain, yet have been met with contempt when speaking it to most staff members. Staff for the most part are unfriendly and unhelpful. Case in point, my boyfriend injured his back this week. We asked for them to call us a taxi one day as he can’t walk. We were told the taxis are on strike and won’t come to the hotel for short trips. No other solution was offered to us. We were told the bus goes regularly, but given no info on times, location, price, etc. We had to wander around (with my boyfriend in agony!) trying to find the bus stop only to find they are absolutely NOT regular! The buffet doesn’t allow you to take food out, so when my boyfriend’s back was really bad, we literally had to resort to ordering takeout from a local restaurant. That in itself made me want to demand a refund. Every single night they have a kids disco that lasts for 2+ hours and repeats the exact same music until around 9pm. Then some form of entertainment will ensue which is poor for the most part. The best entertainment was a 3 man band one Thursday night who were asked for 3 encores. Any other night the cheesy dancing/karaoke/magic show is just pathetic. Cocktails are good, the wine is surprisingly drinkable, and the selection of drinks on AI is pretty decent. 1 in 3 bar staff are very nice. These are the few redeeming qualities about this hotel. The cleaning staff also do work tirelessly, but early, and unless you’re out of your room by 9.30am, your room might not be cleaned. We were woken most mornings by the scraping of furniture from both guests and cleaners alike. On our final day, the DND sign disappeared from our door, so now we don’t even have the option of keeping people out of our room! Anyone who thinks this resort is 4 star or worth the money, respectfully, needs to travel more. On the whole, a big waste of our money and a massive disappointment.

We had a lovely all inclusive stay at the vell Mari hotel. My son absolutely loved it from start to finish, kid’s entertainment was brill and he loved the food too. Pool was fantastic with the added bonus of the heated pool and jacuzzi next to supermarket in the hotel. Staff were always so helpful and restaurant staff/bar staff were always so smiley and helpful. Thank you so much for a lovely family holiday

Lovely and clean apartment .Great supply and choice of food .Big pool .bar was good with wide selection of no/ and alcohol drinks Helpful staff.10 minutes to the beach friendly staff. Negatives -all minor !smoking around the pool area.Sometimes juices would run out at breakfast .The water wasn't hot enough to make tea. Another life guard is needed .the one that was on duty did an amazing job of resuscitating a child who had drowned but the pool is very busy and there is also a child pool and accidents happen. I would recommend a private transfer from the airport to save time. Overall a lovely hotel .Great for families with children

Good points: Spacious clean studio rooms. Very friendly staff. Well maintained grounds/pool. Well managed dining hall - never waiting for a clean table, food topped up regularly. Typical buffet food, usually something for everyone. Good selection of all inclusive drinks and bar well staffed. Good WiFi throughout Regular Bus to lots of destinations at back of hotel(Inc. Palma)- takes bank cards as payment aswell as cash. Very multi national guests Good for wheelchairs or mobility constrained guests (ramps everywhere) Not so good points: Rooms are dated and only two English lang tv stations (itv 1&itv2). Road around hotel can be noisy- choose a garden facing room if light sleeper Bit of a walk into can picafort but bus and trolly available Not all balconies get sun Entertainment is a bit hit and miss Plenty mosquitos! Generally, I would recommend this family oriented resort

We stayed here Early September '23..There was 15 of us in total (Adults & Kids).. When we arrived late at nite, check in was quick and easy...Then showed us to the restaurant were there was light refreshments for us...Nice touch.. Rooms were very spacious and well laid out...Our Room had 2 × double beds and a Pull put sofa bed (another double if needed)...Rooms Very "Dated" but Had everything you would need..Bathrooms were clean and Shower was good and hot and powerful.. Pool Area was Great..absolutely no complaints at all..Beautiful Large Pool with A deep end of 1.6 m.. so everyone could enjoy without danger... There was Pool bar with self service soft drinks and water, For All Inclusive customers. I liked this idea, so as kids didn't have to queue for drinks,If your kids are like mine they won't have patience to wait for drinks as it wastes "pool time" lol... Food was good, plenty of choice and plenty of food for everyone's taste... There was a typical buffet and also then had a grill chef with a meat & fish special on every lunch & dinner time... Desserts were all great too..Ice Creams etc.. Snack bar at pool served food aswell..buffet style,Burgers, nuggets chips salads etc.... Shop On site too for Inflatables and snacks... Indoor pool ..We didn't get to use it as the weather was too good to be inside but looked clean and well maintained. Plenty of activities around everyday Darts,Pool, Shooting, Football, volleyball and also water polo....Night Time had a brilliant Mini Disco for the kids follow by various acts for the adults.. Definitely a great resort. Couldnt fault it at all.. Also close to the main bus routes. Also A Small tourist train stops outside the hotel and takes you around the town..I would recommend getting the train and seeing the beach/ promenade area...Beautiful
