We recently spent one night at the Norton Holiday Inn and it was very nice. The smoke in the hallways is from smoking rooms, not a fire. VA will implement a NO Smoking in any Hotels rule in a couple months and that should no longer be a problem. Room was clean and inviting and bathroom was nice. Interestingly enough... more

This hotel is brand new and is extremely clean. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. The problem however is that there is a Restaurant/Lounge on the 5th floor. On Friday night they had a band playing until 2 a.m. in the morning. If you were on the wrong side of the hotel, then you had this music blasting in... more

First of all, let me rave about the hospitable and efficient face of this property — Donna. Unbeknownst to me, when Donna took my reservation there was a personnel vortex brewing. During my stay I learned the GM had departed, and so had the additional front desk staff. This became apparent because Donna was a fixture at the front desk... more

This hotel had to have had a fire in it during construction. The hallways smell of smoke. Do not stay in this hotel if you have enviromental allergies. The hotel staff smoke alot out front. I could not breath the two nights I stayed there. Checking in and out is a pain because there are no luggage carts. more

After reviewing several hotels in the Southwestern Virginia area, we decided to book our rooms at the Holiday Inn Norton. Our decision was based on several factors: Location - the hotel is relatively close to the family we came to visit in the Clintwood/Haysi area of Southwestern Virginia. Accomodations - we have a 5-person family. It may seem odd, but... more

We had no choice but to stay here for a family reunion. My fiance called to make the reservation as we had secured a group rate. They gave him the incorrect rate twice before finally charging us correctly. Check in was VERY slow. The rooms were clean however the bed was very uncomfortable. Shortly after we arrived and entered the... more

The Holiday Inn at Norton is brand new, very nice, and nearly 30 years in coming. Anyone who visited downtown Norton in the past 30 years knows the enormous, rusting, steel-skeleton eyesore that sat at the corner of Park Avenue and 11th Street. A hotel was started at that location in the 1970s, but for 30 years, it was on-again,... more

When my business group stayed there the firs time in March, the hotel clearly was not ready for business. The staff admitted that they opened simply for race weekend in Bristol. Toilets overflowed, windows were off track, wireless internet did not work and construction workers roamed the halls at all hours of the night. We have stayed two more times... more
