We found this hotel and town very enjoyable. Yes, I read some of the negative reviews and agree, I did have to carry the suit cases up the stairs myself, but crowding seventy I can still do that. The Chef, Tennessee, prepared a great dinner. The breakfasts were very good. Our room was clean and we found the check in... more

I`m not sure if some of the other reviewers need a top up of happy pills or not but my stay at the Hotel was great. I was traveling south and called from the road. The lady who took the call was very friendly and even though I was arriving late she arranged to have someone meet me. I arrived... more

I've stayed here before, but this time was a big disappointment. The hotel restoration was well done originally, but now the exterior is well overdue for a coat of paint, and is peeling in many places. The room decor is still OK tho showing signs of wear, but what was inexcusable was the ingrained dirt in the bathroom, on every... more

Martinborough is a quiet sleepy town in a great location in the middle of a wine growing area and this hotel is slap bang in the middle of town. It has a great restaurant and pleasant decor . However the veranda rooms are effectively over the top of the main bar in town which opens out onto the main square... more

Maybe we hit this place on a bad night (a Saturday night stay in late January), but our stay was not comfortable. The temperature was well in the 30s, but no air conditioning, just a very slow fan, and the only ventilation provided by a French window which opened onto a balcony with public access and therefore no security, meant... more

We can not fault this hotel at all, it was perfect. We held a very small wedding in the courtyard and nothing was too much trouble from helping with a florist to sweeping up confetti. We had 4 rooms booked, all of which were beautiful, all individually decorated, large and well appointed. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast... more

How disappointing. We eat here once about a year ago and it was good; now that chef has gone to Auckland and the bar/restaurant is more like one of those ghastly Antipodean 'Sports Bars'. The rooms are fading fast and serious investment is needed all round, as well as serious staff training - when we could find staff they seemed... more

Great place to stay in Martinborough. The hotel is magnificently restored and has everything you need. We had a garden room and it was a good size with large bathroom and full size claw foot bath. Bed was huge and had seriously good linen. Minibar was well stocked and laffare coffee and plunger was a bonus. Very well located right... more

This is a nice hotel with very nice clean rooms and good size bathrooms. However the pictures of the actual building are very misleading, they show the hotel to be built on a green field surrounded only by grass, when in actual fact it's on a street corner in the town! I cant even understand how they managed to get... more

A very nice hotel, conveniently located for visiting the vineyards in the area. The restaurant is excellent, both for breakfast and dinner. Make sure to get a room on the second floor where you can sit outside on the veranda to try your wine. No elevator or help with the luggage more
