What a wonderful evening we spent in the Tyler suite at the Lafayette Inn. It was huge with two romantic fireplaces, candles, and chocolates and champagne. The decor was exquisite, the bed was a downy field. The bathroom was stocked with everything you might need. And everything was spotless. more

My mother and I stayed in the Wilson Room at the Lafayette Inn in April 2009. We originally wanted to book a hotel in Charlottesville, but every place was sold out so we moved up north to Stanardsville. I must say, there isn't much nearby, and it's about 20-30 mins. from Charlottesville, but the drive is fairly easy. The hosts... more

A truly delightful stay. Alan and Kaye Pyles were extremely helpful, genuine folk who know how to run a successful business, even out in the middle of a bucolic town like Standardsville. The name suggests its mediocrity. The cabin we stayed in was part of a converted Confederate arsenal and was brilliantly kept up to really make my girlfriend and... more

My wife and I recently enjoyed wonderful night away from the kids and jobs at the Lafayette Inn. We stayed in the Dicey Cottage and appreciated the privacy. The king size bed was very comfortable and the bedroom was smartly (not overly) furnished. It felt like going back in time, albeit with the benefit of sheets with a much higher... more

The location is fantastic. The food was very good. And the Inn itself is quite charming. But there are some things that should be improved. What we saw of the Inn was beautiful. However, there really is no reception area, which led to a slightly awkward check-in. When we arrived we were asked if we were there for dinner. When... more

We spent a long weekend in Dicey's Cottage, which is part of the Lafayette Inn. When we booked the cottage, we weren't told that it was located only 10 feet from main drag through town. Needless to say, you should bring earplugs unless you love the sound of traffic. We had to request a music CD to play at night... more

Alan and Kaye Pyles are gracious and hospitable Innkeepers; we had a nice three day stay there and found it affordable. Breakfasts were excellent especially the egg Omelette’s. The Inn and guest rooms are being restored and upgraded with attention to quality. Even before we arrived someone on their staff called to see if there was anything they could do... more

My husband and I spent two days at the Lafayette Inn. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. We were surprised at first that our room (Washington) did not have a tv but when we got used to it ...it was great! Extremely relaxing. more

After a day of driving through the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains, hiking and enjoying the view we pulled up to the Lafayette hotel (despite the incorrect directions we were given). It looks just like the pictures (-------------------), and we were greeted kindly. Our room was very nice, although we didn't get a room with a fireplace, we had a seperate... more

Located midway between Charlottesville and some of the best hiking in Shenandoah, The Lafayette Hotel is a value accomodation hallmarked by friendly staff and excellent food. Upon arrival, our host brought us a complimentary drink, showed us to our room, and lit the working fireplace. Our room in this historic building was spacious and rather quaint, with quilted queen-sized bed,... more
