After a slight detour through very rural Northern West Virginia, my Mom and I found ourselves lost near Warrenton, VA. Finding a pet-friendly hotel was proving difficult until we found the Howard Johnson hotel. The room was aging and needed work. There was a crudely patched hole in the wall behind the door where the door knob had hit at... more

So many things were bad with this hotel - check-in, credit card reader is the old fashioned stamp kind, which our paperwork got stuck in, after getting our card key, we walked to the separate building where all the rooms are located, up the stairs, down the smokey hall and swiped our key - only to have it not work.... more

The Howard Johnson is one of the most convenient hotels in Warrenton, and least expensive. That being said, it's still overpriced for what it offers. The lobby is in a separate building than the rooms. The building the rooms are in smells of smoke, and has no elevator to the second floor. I got a tad nervous walking up the... more

The reviews for this hotel was down right scary. Just like in a previous review, when I got to the hotel I asked to see my room first because the reviews were so awful. When I walked into the building, you could definitely smell cigarette smoke, but in my hotel room, you would never know it was smokey in the... more

Checked into one room, which reeked with cat urine. Asked for another room. That room had a dead rat in it. This was by far the nastiest hotel I have ever been in. Don't stay here!! Totally disgusting!! Not to mention that peices of the wall was peeling off. The front desk was nice, but who is in charge of... more

I don’t know what these other guys are carping about. What with the stained carpets, peeling paint and battered furniture, I felt right at home, at least home as I knew it in my college frat house. If there’d been a half naked Freshman chick passed out drunk in the lobby, I’d have sworn I’d been teleported back to Whatsamatta... more

Went on a group outing with co-workers to Old Rag and, because the Hampton Inn was closed for renovations, we stayed here sight unseen. I love inexpensive hotels but this is truly the worst place I've ever stayed. Had I arrived early enough to cancel my reservation and go elsewhere, I would have. Carpets were dirty, linens were way too... more

The hotel room was absolutely filthy. The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month or longer. more

Had to travel to Virginia for my nephew's first birthday. Normally stay with my sister but she had a full house. Were originally going to stay at one of the motels closer to her, but decided that since Howard-Johnsons is a known name, we would have better luck getting a decent hotel. NOT THE CASE! We walked in and saw... more
