The mansion is charming; it is old so the floors creak and the walls are a bit thin. The homey smell from the kitchen permeated like grandma's house at Thanksgiving. It's no wonder then, that breakfast was a delight. French toast croissants and apple-marinated (?) sausage were the highlights, along with fruit, cereals, Englilsh muffins, coffee, tea, and juice.
Our room, the Redmond Room, was clean and overlooked the duck pond. The pond, as well as the surrounding grounds, needed tidying and weeding.
The service was wonderful and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again, but we were informed that when the Shumway Mansion changes ownership later this year, that the new owners will convert it to a private home.
