My grandfather built this as his home with sheer stubborn determintation
and my father Carl Dean Johnson was born in it.
He came from Norway and was known for building quite a few homesteads around the Methow Valley.
He is buried along with all the Johnsons in Beaverbrook Cemetary outside of Twisp.
A character he would ride his horse into the local watering hole for a drink and back out again in the mid 1900's. If you stay in this quaint Inn - I hope you do appreciate it is intricately part of Winthrop's history. I am so proud that my grandfather was such a hard worker and his father was one of the first to settle in this part of the country.
