This place is close to perfection. Attentive hosts, historic town, historic inn and complete comfort. Add to this great breakfasts, attention to detail and large rooms. I highly recommend!! more

My sister and I can only see each other every two or three years, so our weekend getaways have to be very special. After choosing to visit historic Civil War sites, we used 'tripadvisor' to look up the B&Bs in the area that were convenient to all of the places we wanted to see. We chose the Thomas Shepherd Inn... more

This B&B is so wonderfully charming and staying here is stepping back into history. I had no idea that the entire town is historical and we could have spent hours looking at the wonderfully preserved buildings. The Thomas Shepherd Inn makes for a perfect stay. It's beautifully preserved with all the amenities one could want while staying in a work... more

Jim and Jeanne are wonderful host and have a beautiful home. The breakfast were quite large and delicious...especially the chilled strawberry soup and the hashbrown quiche. Ensure you look at the recommended restaraunts on their list...you will not go wrong. Wonderful stay and extremely relaxing. more

Our visit to the Inn was wonderful. The innkeepers were so welcoming, there were fresh cookies in the living room, and our room, Room #1, was beautiful and quiet. The inn itself is beautifully decorated with antique furnishings, and we loved looking at all the intricate things. We strolled downtown and had a great dinner, and then got some ice... more

My past experiences staying in B&B's haven't been all that great but this Inn has changed my attitude towards the graciousness, hospitality, accommodation and quaintness available when visiting small towns such as Shepherdstown. The rooms were warm and welcoming, spacious and clean. Quite comfortable! I had the good fortune of staying in Room 6. Queen size bed, sitting area and... more

We were there for 4 nights and a very pleasant stay. The breakfasts were great, our room was quite spacious, the location was within walking distance to all the shops and the college, the innkeepers assisted us in dining reservations for the four nights. There was a small library and porch that allowed our cycling group to gather before dinner.... more

Located right in the heart of Shepherdstown and within walking distance of great restaurants and nice small town shops. Jeanne and Jim were gracious hosts, the rooms are large for a B&B, and the extra rooms for quests to gather in make you most comfortable. Nice back porch with rockers to enjoy even if it is raining. Super breakfast with... more

Shepherdstown is a surprising town. It has several interesting restaurants and shops. The Inn is located at one end of town, unfortunately at the intersection of 2 very busy roads. The amount of traffic is remarkable for such a rural setting. Some of the rooms do have road noise. The common rooms are pleasant though cluttered. The bedrooms are comfortable... more

Management response from

We are sorry that this guest did not find the Inn more comfortable for her stay; we did work with the guest to remedy the problem, albeit the following morning. The mattress set in Room 3 is less than a year old and the same name-quality brand that is in half of our rooms. The next occupants of the room...
