I went with a co-worker on a business/pleasure trip to Eau Claire. We had found out before we arrived about the guy and the lobby, so didn't have high expectations. We chose to stay because they allow pets in non-smoking rooms. Unfortunately, even with this concession to our needs, the room did not feel clean, the appointments were shabby, and the mattress was awful. Lobby was under construction as other reviews noted. The hotel smells like smoke in all of the hallways and in the non smoking rooms. There were construction workers drinking in the parking lot and they were very loud. This place needs a serious renovation! The entire complex is filled with battered, outdated furniture, tattered wallcoverings, and carpeting in need of replacement.
