Me and my family have been going to new glarus we were happy as is. so we decided to stay longer but in mt horeb. My parents mentioned the karakahl! A cute 70's place with a huge pool and restaurant and a game room! So we took the drive. We drove in to the untamed pothole filled lot of the... more

It had been twenty years since we had seen the inn and something seemed wrong when we pulled in. It looked sleazy everywhere, not the pristine place of years before. The check in was very unfriendly. We were told to turn into the parking lot by the pool end of the building. I was afraid to take my fully loaded... more

We had a very nice stay, the rooms were clean, very comfortable beds and spacious, the Olympic size pool was a lot of fun. The staff was very helpful and freindly. The motel is under construction and some upgrades are in progess, over all the location and price would be worth your stay. It is a older 1960's style motel, architect... more

The good: Clean bathroom and relatively effecient check-in/out, would be beautifully retro/architecturally important with the right owners . The bad: Large holes in side of boxpring (looked as if had been stored somewhere and mice had gotten into it), uncomfortable beds, room not as clean as could be, dirty windows, overgrown landscaping, no restaurant/lounge, small tv, no a/c, website photos... more

Perhaps I should have checked here first for reviews! It hasn't changed since the reviewer in August 2005 described it with weeds all over the parking lot, flowers and greenery have not been tended to for some time. When we checked in we were advised that the air conditioning wasn't working but would be fixed within a couple of hours.... more

I agree with one of the other reviewers that when you pull in it is hard to say if the place is even in business. It is not well taken care of . Then when we checked in we only had one room reserved instead of the two that I requested. To give the owner credit, he did find us... more

Dont let the photos of this place fool you. There isn't any water near this place. When my wife and I pulled into the parking lot we weren't sure if it was even open. There are so many weeds growing in the cracks of the parking lot the place looked like it was abandoned. The windows haven't been cleaned in... more

Talk about stepping off of a time machine. This place couldn't be cheesier in its Jetson's era decor. I fully expected Dean Martin to be working the lounge. The website for this hotel is quite decieving, especially the picture that shows rolling hills with a water view. The only water we saw was a moldy pool enclosure with cloudy windows... more

Be sure to ask for a more updated room in the front. We were able to fit two rollaways for the kids in our room. Clean with an 80's look. Very large indoor heated pool-would be a great getaway for the winter also. Town of Trolls is fun and only short drive to House on the Rock. more
