I have spent the last 3 months travelling in the state of Wisconsin on business. I've been booked in Country Inn and Suites, Holiday Inn Express and Fairmont in many not so big cities and they've all been quite nice. I had never stayed in an Americinn and never will again, although I know the one in Monona (near Madison) WI is pretty nice.

The lobby furniture and carpet were stained and dirty, the walls needed to be painted, the windows in the common areas looked like they had not been washed in years. The whole place smelled of cigarette smoke and the ashtrays at the main and rear entrances were filled to overflowing. I did not try the breakfast because the place was so dirty. The room sheets and towels were the thinnest and cheapest I've ever experienced.

The worst part was, however, that the locking mechanism on the rear door was missing and the door was open for anyone to enter the hotel day or night. There's a Microtel, a Super 8 and a Best Western in... more
