I was traveling with my 10 yr old daughter to see friends in Northern Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I wanted to give her a sense of Wyoming History. We loved the hotel. Big room. Clean. Well appointed in a western style. The lobby is awesome. Top end sophisticated restaurant. I booked early and got a great rate on the room. (The... more

If you're a business traveler and have any needs or requirements for your hotel location, this hotel should not be included. They say it went thru a major renovation in 2003, but I can't imagine what they updated. It was not the rooms. I have a "parlor" suite, that was outdated and smelled horribly. The wireless was on again off... more

Booked for 2 nights but only stayed one. The downstairs and reception area are lovely - fantastic stain-glassed ceiling. Bar and restaurant good too - friendly service and good value. However, room (suite with 2 doubles plus lounge with sofa bed) was not great. There was plenty of space and it was clean, and had everything you needed. But the... more

Just returned from Cheyenne Wyoming and The Plains Hotel, we took our entire church youth group there, and had a great time. The hotel was great and staff was accommodating when we had some mix up in bed types and rooms with one bed in them Lee and Karen at the front desk immediately too care of us with the... more

We booked for the historical element. Besides the lobby area which is quite nice, the rooms are smaller, old and tired. You could bump your elbows in the bathroom. Since this is a hotel, we expected better linens on the bed (you know the see-thru-ish lower thread count type sheets were on the bed with a yucky bedspread). We arrived... more

On a previous trip through Cheyenne we had stopped for lunch at the restaurant in this hotel and had been impressed with the lobby and restaurant, so we decided to give the hotel a try for this trip. What a mistake! We checked in on a Sunday afternoon in mid August, not much (if anything) going on in town that... more

Staff was wonderful, public areas are lovely, breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. That's it for the positive comments. Small room. Old, tired furnishings. Excellent location. Room was on the main street - no soundproofing for these historic old windows. Lots of motorcyclists on their way to Sturgis, SD...... I think you get the picture. Bathroom fixtures were ancient, leaking.... more

General: This is an old hotel, so as other reviewers have pointed out, the elevator and hallways are small and dark. We had a fun view of an old movie theater across the street. We enjoyed the historic aspect of this hotel, and appreciated that pets were welcome. Concerns: Our room was comfortable, but could have been cleaner. The coffee... more

The Plains was worth it. Good location in the heart of the historic district. The service and food were good in the restaurant. We asked for a room away from the traffic and it was very quiet. Everyone was very friendly. more

The staff went over the top to provide our group with first class service. The food was excellent and the rooms were clean and well appointed. Our group had 3 off site events catered by the hotel, each went off without a hitch and several members of the group commented on the personalized service they recieved. Hats off to the... more
