After a roadtrip through northwest USA, we stayed 5 days in this B&B on Hawaii. We stayed in Hale Huna, de bottom of three apartments. We had such a pleasant stay, the place was really beautifull! The garden was very well kept. The animals were so nice to watch and play with. Breakfast was the highlight of each day with... more

One of the previous reviewers stated that you either love or hate this B & B - well I will have to say it was a bit of both for us. This is an honest review that I hope will help with decision making . We stayed in the "Crows Nest", there were three of us, it was spacious and... more

I wish I'd read the other reviews more carefully, as I certainly would not have stayed here! The birds in the morning were just something else, and unless you are a very heavy sleeper, you'll be gauranteed to wake up very early... Marianna was ok, although her husband Reiner, was rather distant and a bit grumpy! We were told about... more

This B&B is a working coffee/macadamia nut farm in a rainforest setting. Marianna, the innkeeper has several animals, including chickens, roosters, ponies, parrots, peacocks, etc... There is also a koi pond. There are macadamia nuts with crackers around the property and the nuts are delicious. There is a lot of noise from the animals, which we found charming/funny, but some... more

We loved it and you will either love it or hate it. The rooms are all unusual. Ours was two floors of a macadamia nut husking building, another is a beached boat - really, a proper boat beached in the garden. Our room consisted of a large lounge, with TV and fridge, and a bedroom above and an en suite... more

My partner and I just completed our stay at the Rainbow plantation in Captain Cook. In contrast to some surprising previously made reviews, we had a delightful time! The hosts, Marianne and Reiner, were gracious and kind, and we had a great time chatting with the other guests, many of whom were returning regulars from multiple countries. This is a... more

This property is nothing as it is described. Beware! The owners are also very rude and brought me to tears when i tried to work it out with them. Their "outdoor kitchen" is just that. The plates and glasses are all outside and they have numerous chickens walking the property that do the walking over the dishes for you to... more

Management response from

We have been running this business for over 13 years now and we are proud to say that most of our guests are happy here and many of them return to us over and over again. The guest books tell the true story about their experience and feelings here on this farm. This is a tropical, natural and organic retreat...

If you don't like birds, stay elsewhere. If you love waking up to the cooing, cawing, cackling, and crowing of chickens, roosters, doves, wrens, and peacocks, you have found true paradise. Throw in some miniature horses, a pond of koi, and a pot-bellied pig and you have the Rainbow Plantation. Location: Captain Cook is a bit of a drive to... more

A nice setting, lots of bird, animal life. The lady of the house Marianne (sp?) was very nice, husband...strong, silent type... :) My husband and I had the boathouse suite, we liked it ( a little cramped, so go with someone you like!) Great views, an altogether pleasant experience. Breakfast was decent. more

We researched this b&b before going and thought it would be terrific. Bring earplugs, we stayed in Hale Huna, the owner drives up and down the driveway every morning at 730 AM in his ATV tractor....NOISY. If not the tractor noise the peacocks will surely wake you up. We stayed for 3 days, on our 2nd day we had earplugs... more
