My comments pertain to Banana Patch Cottage & Akiko's Property in General Akiko was a most gracious host!!!!!

This was just what I was looking for. Very "Old Hawaii" and very peaceful. Breakfast was served promptly every day at 7:30am with really good Big Island coffee, fresh fruit, hot cereal, etc.

Akiko's place is very convenient for exploring Hilo, Rainbow Falls Area, Volcano, and Puna areas. Akiko's place is well off of the beaten path and will give you a taste of rural Hawaii. Lots of fruit trees and jungle like lanscape on the property.

Banana Patch Cottage was "rustic" in a good way except bedding and linens could have been of better quality.

Shared bath next to Cottage was "rustic" in a good way but had plenty of hot water & was clean.

Shared kitchen for making dinner and snacks was available at the larger 5 bedroom house. I would recommend the larger 5

The bathroom and kitchenette, located in a separate small building are shared by the mango tree cottage and the smaller banana tree cottage. It's simple and peaceful, though not roughing it by any means. Miss Akiko is a pleasure to talk to and made us feel at home immediately. We were sorry to leave!

Breakfast was wonderful! Hot tea, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice, and a wide spread of fresh picked tree-ripened fruits, homemade sweet...
