This is a motel and for the price don't expect much. Perfect for short stays or buddget travelers. Close to airport, actually you can view the runway from your room. The motel is Not on the ocean is across the street of the Ocean Bay. Hilo town is walking distance. Hilo Bay front very nice. Hilo offers lots of plants,... more

We stayed two nights at the Hilo Seaside Hotel to see Volcano NP and Big Island. As mentioned by other travellers the hotel is indeed a little outdated, but you can consider that as a charm too - compared to those huge unpersonal high rise 1000 room chain hotels you'd find on many tourist spots. We had a very nice... more

The Hilo Seaside Hotel on the Big Island was everything we could have hoped for and more!! Celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary with our first (but not our last!) visit to the Hawaiian Islands , we wanted romance, coziness, retro décor, cleanliness, view, comfort, convenience, and service. When we rounded the corner to the Hilo Seaside, we were awed at... more

My wife and I were on a trip to Hawaii, that I won thru a contest at work., to cover both the Big Island, and Maui. We had free air fair, but had to cover our own costs for lodging, meals, etc. We were on a very limited budget, of $1,000.00 per Island, to cover 4 days and 3 nights... more

My family and I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Had requested connecting rooms as had children in the group. Was told on checkin that none were available (even though had requested connecting rooms when we booked about 4 months before). I asked if they didn't have any or if none were available that night and was told 'not available'.... more

We stayed at the Hilo Seaside Hotel after a long day of driving and sightseeing. We were staying with family in North Kohala, and my husband and I decided to take a day trip down to Volcano National Park. Our original plan was to make it back "home" in one day, but after walking on lava for several hours and... more

stayed here because it was the cheapest room i could find for hilo- $83 on hotwire. front desk upgraded me to a garden room, which was nice and quiet other than the roar of planes at the airport across the street from the hotel. room was large, everything worked fine. considering that everything in hilo is overpriced, this was a... more

Since the price was really low, I prepared for a dumpy place... when I pulled up outside, I was alittle worried as it looked pretty old. but you know what? when I got into the (3rd floor) room... after dragging my luggage up the stairs (no elevator), I was pleasantly surprised. The room was neat and clean, the TV worked... more

Location is good, room was booked as superior garden view, but I ended up in the Ocean wing, which was a better room--had a balcony overlooking the "ocean" i.e. Hilo Harbor, and was a good-sized room. Parking was a problem, as has been noted. The hotel is on many levels: my room was on the second floor, but from the... more

Hilo Seaside is a 1960's 2- story walk-up hotel with a nice local Hawaiian ambience. Compared to the two high-rise hotels along Hilo Bay, where I've stayed before on business trips, this was nicer in some ways but a notch lower in others. There's no elevator, so this is not a hotel for wheelchair customers. Be prepared to navigate at... more
