We have now been to the Islands 3 times and have stayed at the Maui Ritz to the "i don't know what that was" hotel on the Big Island. "Soup to nuts" experiences and although we only stayed here 2 nights we do have a fondness for the place. Yes, its hard to find-for that matter anything that is not... more

I agree with the other reviewer who said that the food was of poor quality and very expensive!!! When we walked into this hotel, the smell was horrible. My kids looked at me and said, "how long do we have to stay here." We definitely did not eat dinner at the hotel and wish we had not eaten breakfast there.... more

This hotel takes advantage that guests staying here are tourists who are basing themselves on the Hilo side of the island for sightseeing. The hotel restaurant and breakfast food are of poor standard. The food is overpriced, small portions and poor quality. You would be better advised to go to Pescatore italian in Hilo downtown. The town itelf looks a... more

The check-in staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The lobby bar's happy hour was worth going to with two buck draft beers and plenty of pupus. It's no wonder that a lot of locals go there. The restaurant had daily specials and the location was very convenient. more

After bad experience with B&B we booked into this hotel for 3 nights, the staff were great, very helpful and friendly, room had superb ocean view, buffet breakfast very good and reasonable price tho restaurant ac was too cold for us. Pool also a bit cold for us. Location good, parking good and free. Close to Hilo Town and excellent... more

We saw Mauna Kea across the bay on two of three mornings at the Castle Hilo. With a special rate for seniors, it was moderately priced. The location on Hilo way was nice, It was fun to watch the family festivities on Coconut Island - many since we were there on Mother's Day. They say this is the best hotel... more

We stayed here only one night, but it was fantastic! We were on our way to visit the volcano, but did not like the idea of a bed and breakfast type place. I'm glad we stayed here - the room had such a great view! The staff was excellent and allowed us to check in early. The room had a... more

I stayed here with friends May 21-24, 2009. As other reviewers have said, it's an older hotel, and Hilo is not really a tourist town. I found the lobby attractive, and our two deluxe ocean view rooms were fine - clean, comfortable, everything worked, there was a small refrigerator. There was no smell in the rooms, but the hallway did... more

I stayed one night in this hotel, the first thing I noticed when I walked in the room was the 1970s style of the room and the 1970s style comforter. Then I noticed a moldy stink, unfortunately I think in Hilo it's hard to avoid mold and mildew because it is so humid and always rains. The staff was not... more
