If there is any bad reviews on this place, don't listen to them! We looked at the reviews when we booked and thought..OK?!! But this is the most relaxing place to stay! Has very clean rooms that are fresh and relaxing. We did'nt have time to go in the swimming pool, but they had just cleaned it and do every... more

We stayed at Makai Hale in October 2008. We had a wonderful time there and we definitely hope to return in the future. The location and view were so beautiful! Located on a hill on the Kona side of the Big Island (Hawaii) with an incredible "180" view of the ocean (as far as the eye can see), peaceful, private. The review above is extremely accurate about Makai Hale. Its beautiful and peaceful. There is an amazing panoramic view of the ocean from the room. The breakfast is delicious. The rooms are immaculate. The most beautiful beaches are just a few minutes away. I definitely reccommend Makai Hale to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. more

Stayed at the Makai Hale for a week on our honeymoon in October of 2004. We were in Honolulu for five days before which was great but not very relaxing, it was like any other city.
