My husband, two kids and I had a very nice week long stay and would have liked to extend our vacation if we could have managed it. BEWARE! This place is a total rip-off. Two different travel books recommended this place which turned out to be a total, filthy dump. One of our traveling partners became ill after drinking the tap water and had to go to the hospital. It should be closed down. more

I am stunned by the fact that you said " your traveling companion drank our tap water and had to be taken to the hospital emergency room", If this person in your group got sick from our water , the whole Pahoa village...

Island Paradise Inn is great! We were very pleasantly surprised. This is the cheapest place I found to stay on the Big Island. Spotlessly clean, well appointed, stocked with everything you need, good, friendly people. It is well worth the money. It could be quieter, but you don't expect perfection for $40 a night (even cheaper for long stays!). Pahoa... more
