My boyfriend and I stayed in the Kilauea lodge for two nights. The property is gorgeous with boardwalks and greenery. We had great breakfasts each morning (French toast! Egg crepes!) and quiet time to unwind in the hottub each evening. Tammi became our uber-guide, advising us as to the best restaurants and the best hikes/activities given our short stay in... more

We spent two nights of our honeymoon at the Volcano Village Lodge. It proved to be the perfect location for exploring the Volcanoes National Park. It is literally right around the corner from the park entrance. The jungle pathways are serene and rooms are very private. Although all the rooms were occupied we never ran into another guest. There is... more

Thank you for the glowing review of our lodge rooms and the rainforest environment. We apologize for the bugs you encountered and thank you for the suggestion about the plumbing structure as a possible source. As noted, the Volcano rainforest is cool pretty much year round, requiring the warmth of a fireplace in the room. This means that we are...

This beautiful lodge is really what I would consider a "retreat house." The buildings were lovely, just like the photos on the website. This bed and breakfast is surely the best property I have ever visited. The peaceful surroundings contributed to a very relaxed state. What a perfect place to return to after a long day at Volcanoes National Park.... more

Book your honeymoon at Volcano Village Lodge (VVL). My wife and I recently spent three days of our honeymoon at VVL and it was absolutely magnificent. Like many guys out there, I recently found myself in the position of sorting through the rubbish places from the quality places. After reading the glowing reviews on tripadvisor, I decided to give this... more

We headed south on the Big Island to see the volcanos and this is the perfect location. As soon as we checked in we were guided to the best evening lava view. Room was large and very nice with beautiful lush setting all around. Total facility is very relaxing and quiet and Zen. more

We came here for the 2nd half of our honeymoon and we loved it. We stayed in the Kilauea and we loved the privacy. We didn't even see the other guests although the place was booked. However-don't try to sleep in, the maid banged on our door to deliver breakfast for the next day and startled us. Also, they keep... more

We're glad to hear that our guests loved the privacy and beauty of our lodge. Our guests value our place precisely for these and other reasons, such as great services, as the reviewers mentioned, by people like Tammi, our manager. In the Hawaiian rainforest of Volcano Village, we have been blessed with peace and tranquility, as well as security of...

It's enchanting staying in a rainforest, particularly when the rooms are designed such that they seem like an extension of the outside - walls of windows, tropical wood furnishings, bamboo wood flooring, decorations reflecting the plants outside, etc. We had two rooms - the Hale Manaluna and Hale Kilauea. While we thought both rooms were great, we think the Hale... more

Hard to find, specially at night under the rain, but once you are there you are in a magical place. Better than I expected, and I sandwiched this stay between the FS Maui and the FS Hualalai. Do hire Warren the guide, he will be the difference between seeing rocks and undertanding the Islands, the people and the culture. more

There was only one day available (it was all booked up) but I wanted to try it anyway to know how it is for the future. I was not disappointed in the Mauna Kea. Friendly staff, nice jacuzzi, well stocked room, comfortable bed, problems solved quickly, etc. I'm from Oregon so the rain seems normal to me. If you are... more

I recently stayed here for two nights - the first two nights of my honeymoon. What a wonderful place. My husband and I arrived late and we were greeted by a very cozy room. We realized that they had left a breakfast for us in the fridge and the next morning we used the microwave to warm it up. They... more
