We stayed in the 2 bungalow Pi"a Mauna house, which is located on a golf course about 5 miles from the main lodge. It was a please to stay there. We were traveling with our adult kids, so they took the bungalow with the TV/DVD. The two bungalows are connected by a deck with a hot tub on it. Very... more

My wife, 11 year old son and I enjoyed a three night stay at the Kilauea Lodge over New Year’s 2009. We stayed in the Pi’i Mauna House, located about 5 miles away from the Lodge on a golf course. The two bedrooms of the house act almost as separate houses, since each is independent of the other – connected... more

We stayed two nights during the time we visited Volcanoes National Park. The lodge is in Volcano Village, which is a sleepy collection of buildings off the main road. This does make for a restful place to sleep as everything pretty much shuts down by nightfall. If you need gas or a snack, make sure you get it by 7... more

Stayed at Kilauea Lodge for 3 nights as part of trip to visit Volcano NAtional Park. Location was fantastic -- very close to VNP without having to stay in Volcano Lodge, which by comparison was quite run down and tired looking. The room was really nicely decorated -- comfortable but also quite attractive, with a fire place and a couple... more

Very solid Inn near Volcano National Park. I would recommend staying near the park if you want to explore -- it takes a good 2 1/2 hours to get to Kona, and the roads are slow at times. The Inn was nice, with clean rooms and comfy common areas. There is no TV anywhere, so if that is important, this... more

We stayed at an off site at the Pi'i Mauna House, through the Kilauea Lodge, which had two separate bedrooms connected by a wrap around deck with a hot tub in between. One of the ohanas(rooms) had a small kitchen and gas fireplace and the other a flat screen TV with a small selection of movies and games. So we... more

Some reviewers commented on the breakfast not being big enough, but my wife and I both thought it was fine. You have a choice of eggs, pancakes, or french toast with fresh papaya or orange juice and bacon or sausage. You can buy more items for $2 each if that is insufficient. The accomodations were good. They are not 5... more

We arrived in Volcano at 7pm without reservation.. and we were desperately looking for a hotel.. Then... The surprise.. This amazing lodge was our "dream in paradise". The restaurant gave us the first impression of the property.. Warm and friendly.. They had just two rooms available and after seeing both of them we made our choice.. The room was perfectly... more

We found the lodge by mistake when we decided to spend the night in the area. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff went out of their way to show us rooms that would accomodate our needs. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant and the food was wonderful. Breakfast (which is included) was very good also. The grounds are... more

Kilauea Lodge is a delightful place to stay. The rooms are large and cozy, hospitality is superb and the food is absolutely wonderful. Most tourists on the Big Island stay in the big resorts on the Kohala Coast, but the Volcano is not to be missed. Rather than trying to make the rather lengthy one-day round trip from the Coast... more
