Very clean, cool, spacious and well equipped accommodation, liked by 2 toddlers as well! Nicely located in a quiet part of Kauai, but there wasn't much choice near Lawai for eating - but a lot of Kauai is like that! Duke's canoe club was our regular, part of the Marriott chain but around 12 miles I think from the B&B.... more

The Hale Kua was just perfect. We stayed here only one night to kick off our Hawaiian vacation. I wish we'd stayed the whole time in this little place! It was like having our own tropical apartment. It was clean, spacious, and the bed was so comfy! We were in the Taro Patch room, which is on the bottom floor.... more

We used our credit card 'reward' dollars to book a weekend stay here. (The other 5 nights on Kauai were spent in Kapa'a.) They call this a Bed and Breakfast - but it's really more like separate buildings/cottages built on the side of a hill. We liked everything about it except for two things; it was quite remote and the... more

We stayed at the Taro Patch for 6 nights in March and it was excellent. A lovely jungle setting came unfortunately with some mosquitos and cocks crowing early in the morning. But the house was lovely (Taro Patch and Banana Patch at the lower level and Coral Tree at the top). On their website the owners have some great videos... more

This place is a little slice of heaven! Up a private road, away from any traffic noise or tourist noise, this little cottage offers everything from home, while giving you a private sanctuary while on vacation. A price that can't be beat for a private house, complete with spices in the cupboards, sunscreen and bug repellent, bath towels, etc! My... more

The setting of this hotel is very interesting - cows mooing, chickens crowing, pretty mountains and lush jungle. I was unpleasantly surprised when we arrived as I was expecting a completely seperate cottage, but the units are set up like a little motel - 4 units, 2 on the bottom, 2 on the top. Expedia really makes it look like... more

We stayed in the Taro Patch unit and it was very nice. The unit comes with a kitchen, which is helpful given that many of the restaurants on Kauai close early. It should be noted that Hale Kua is *not* a bed-and-breakfast. No breakfast is provided. But the couple that owns the place is very nice. If you book through... more

We very much enjoyed our February 2005 stay at Hale Kua. The Taro Patch room was simply perfect. Comfortable bed with large window and sliding glass door which stayed open to the garden/jungle setting the whole time we were there. The living room/kitchen area was open and pleasantly airy. The washer/dryer was VERY convenient and the powerful shower was great... more

We had the pleasure of staying at Hale Kua Bed and Breakfast for seven days during our vacation in September. We stayed in the one-bedroom bungalow which was more like a house with a beautiful wrap-around porch that faced the ocean and the countryside. Wake up to the smell of citrus and go to bed with a gentle breeze blowing... more
