My husband and I spent the second week of our honeymoon in a cottage overlooking Secret Beach, booked through the management company of Pure Kauai. They have other properties on the island, but this one was spot on for our needs: tranquility, privacy, view overlooking the stunning Secret Beach. It was a different experience than a hotel experience, but with many of the amenities- the staff at Pure Kauai includes recreational staff to give surf lessons or guided tours, and we had a couples massages on our deck one evening. The location on the North Shore is precisely what we wanted, laid back and quiet with access to amazing hiking and beaches. Would highly recommend this location to anyone who really wants to connect with a significant other and be on your own for a bit without feeling like a tourist.
